Post#1 » by Canomad » Wed Dec 24, 2008 5:01 am

my pick emeka okafor

why? can play power forward or center, can block shots, play good defense, his can give you 15 pts maybe more on a nightly basis and is a team guy. i also picked him because i dont think he has an ego and would buy into the the cavs system and would mesh in perfectly.

whos your pick?

For me, it'd probably be Dwight Howard or Joe Johnson.

Chris Bosh or Dirk Nowtizki

They're perfect low post players for this team... Each guy can get a quality shot off from the low blocks, and both would be tremendous working the two man game with LBJ or Mo...And they can both rebound the ball well enough..

You pick and roll and pick and pop with each guy...

For non-superstars, Okafor is a good pick. On the general board, some guy mentioned that he thought Okafor was a bust until a few days ago (seriously?).

1. Joe Smith - bring him back!

But actually, I go after Battier or Posey. I want a guy who can play lock down defense. Even though LBJ put up 27? last night, Battier did play some pretty tough d and almost always does.
Is Larry Hughes having fun yet?

Is Caron Butler considered a superstar? :D

Cavs really need a young center but I can't think of a name offhand that would be the perfect fit. I like Okafor but his contract is huge and he's a bit of a liability on offense.

Marcus Camby would look good in a Cav's uniform but Joe Smith is probably more likely.

Maybe Luis Scola or Al Jefferson.

And for superstars, obviously Wade, Bosh, D. Howard or A. Stoudemire.

Non superstar, great fit would be Okur....he is a lights out shooter and would be almost as good as Dirk in the pick and roll.

Superstar-wise, I'd have to go with Chris Bosh because center is the only place where the cavs have no potential for the future. Ilgauskas is going to burn out pretty soon, most likely, and Hickson and AV are both better suited to play the 4 spot. Bosh fits perfectly in the cavs offense and defense. He can step out and shoot the jumper with exceptional range, has a great game in the post and is great with the pick n roll/pop. On defense, he's one of the best big men in the game at guarding the pick n roll and is at least as good a shotblocker as Ilgauskas. And of course, he can rebound, which is the most important thing for any cavs big man.

Other guys I really like:
Carl Landry - toughness, rebounding, scoring
AK47 - Defense at multiple positions, decent spot up shooter, athleticism, passing
Paul Milsap - toughness, nose for the ball, basketball I.Q., rebounding, finishing at the hoop

If I could put anyone on our team it would be Danny Granger (non-superstar). However, it seems he and LeBron have had a few spats, and it wouldn't work. Therefore, while being fictitious anyway, I will take a cooperate Danny Granger because the guy can shoot and plays very tight defense if motivated.
