Wiretap: Jermaine on the block
It's pretty common knowledge that he isn't exactly worth the amount he is being payed, especially with his injury problems. With Z out, however, it may be an option. I think i'd pass on him, personally. Parker is supposedly also available, and i might be interested in him for the right price. Thoughts?

Re: Wiretap: Jermaine on the block
I thought about it and I may do it and just bring him off the bench this year and next. I think a rotation of Z,Ben,JO,AV would be rediculous. It will pretty much come down to Us and NY and between D'antoni not thinking his knees will hold up and Ferry not budging from giving up only Wally I dont know. But I think if we used him in limited minutes and brought him off the bench he would dominate. And if it was possible to get him and Gerald Wallace for our scraps, even if it may take a 1st rder I would do it. The amount of expirings we would have next year would be rediculous.

I'd do this trade in a heartbeat. But I am uncertain if the other teams will but based or previous rumors I thought this had a shot.
Cle
Mo Williams/ Daniel Gibson
Delonte West/Gerald Wallace/ Daniel Gibson
Lebron James/Gerald Wallace
Ben Wallace/ Jermaine O'Neal
Zydrunas Ilgauskas/ Anderson Varajao
We can make one more pickup to backup the Point and the two and that team is ready to destroy the league.

Didn't Parker have a chance to come here but he chose Toronto instead?

O'neal is injury prone so why would you take his big contract?

I don't know about O'Neal. He is practically a scrub. Always injured and doesn't produce like he used to.

so far this year he's producing a little bit more than Z. Take into consideration that he is playing alongside a great scorer in Bosh, those numbers aren't half bad. His contract is obviously a bit ugly, but it expires in a year according to espn so it wouldn't make too much difference. 21 million coming off the books is always very nice

Re: Wiretap: Jermaine on the block
Well I agree with that being nice for the 2010 free agency, but if he is constantly struggling with injuries, will he be as productive? I would like O'Neal if he was the O'Neal from about 5 years back.

^^^ yeah i agree. i think he's one of those players who should have gone to college. his body doesn't appear to have been ready for the NBA, and he never reached his potential.
Anyway, Colangelo (raptors gm) said earlier that he doesn't want to trade andrea or Jermaine. It's on hoopsworld, i believe

DId you just call Oneal a scrub he is the same level of player as Big Z - in his last game against Sac he scored 36 PTS and is avraging almost 15 pts and 8 rbs. He can actully play right now but raptors are probably keeping him on the injury list cause Bargnani is playing so good as a starter

Re: Wiretap: Jermaine on the block
Jermaine O'neal 4 years ago was an mvp canidate, he is starting to show progress in the right direction. He may never be the same, but if he continue averaging 15,8 and continue to improve just maybe he can back to his old self in his prime..he's not old and I think he can still recover from his injuries.
LBJ/Jermaine/Big Z would be a great frountcourt, and with Ben Wallace,Varjeo giving them a deep one as well.

Re: Wiretap: Jermaine on the block
I don't think JO is a scrub, but value wise he only produces slightly more offensively while getting paid twice as much as 'Z' this season and next. The CAVs already have Ben Wallace in the category of useful, but grossly overpaid which means JO (he's more grossly overpaid) doesn't have much value to the CAVs.

Re: Wiretap: Jermaine on the block
Ok so no one thinks that with Z out Jermaine can fill in. Also then when Z comes back our bench won't be the deepest especially defensively: Z/Ben/JO/AV. And now we would have two legit options offensively in the post: High post-Z/ Low post- JO. We have wanted to decrease Z's minutes and I believe JO would be better with less minutes. And whoever comes off the bench would dominate the other team's second unit. And plus he expires by 2010.

This is why I called him a scrub. He was MVP quality 5 years back and was what Dwight Howard is today. He also is constantly injured. He's like Grant Hill. He used to be a stud and now produces now and then, not every time.

Re: Wiretap: Jermaine on the block
Pointless pickup in my mind. Three years ago I'd have been all over him, but he cannot stay healthy anymore. Not worth the risk even if we give up next to nothing. He eats Varejao's minutes and Wallace's minutes, and I liek what those two are doing riht now.
No reason at all to panic with Z. He'll be fine come April-June when we really need him

It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

You ever watch the NBA before the last couple years?
Ever watch JO in Indiana?
He is still a very productive player and can impact games, but alas I admit is not the same guy who led the Pacers to the Eastern Finals and 67 wins.
Scrub? Come on dude, think about that for a second.

Re: Wiretap: Jermaine on the block
^^^That is basically what I am saying. He is a scrub in his post-Indiana era. He was MVP quality, like what Dwight Howard is. He isn't the same as he was in Indy. And I have been watching NBA basketball since '96.

Re: Wiretap: Jermaine on the block
scrub is a bit of an exaggeration. he is still a 15/10 type of player. he's producing almost identical statistics to Z this year. He's decent at both ends of the floor and is at least serviceable, even now. His contract is god awful, we all know that. His injuries dropped him from MVP caliber to simply productive big man. he can still help a team win.
