He can sign at any time, earliest he can sign is 48 hours after he's placed on waivers, so he'll likely be signed Wednesday morning and play against the Bucks Wednesday night.

eyejayem wrote:Talk about JJ looking active against ATl. Dunks and tips at the basket, decent defense. The only blemish he had was that ball that was stolen that he didnt protect. Other than that he led the bench in scoring since nobody else didnt do anything but he played good defense on Smith, Williams and Pachulia.

MIAMI -- LeBron James remembers plenty about what Joe Smith did for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season.
And that's why he wants Smith back for the stretch run this season.
The veteran forward is expected to clear waivers on Wednesday, and when that happens, James says he's hopeful that Smith comes back to the Cavaliers, for whom he averaged 8.1 points as a reserve a year ago.
"I think the short time we had with Joe was great," James said Monday night before Cleveland played in Miami. "One of the best guys, one of the best teammates I've ever had. Definitely love to have him back. We'll see what happens, but as an individual, I'd love to have him back."
