What is the plan for the future?

Post#1 » by Commodor » Thu Mar 26, 2009 8:25 pm

Alright I'm a Warrior fan but I'll be damned if I see New York turn into LA, and we have to deal with two teams that think they are sooooo amazing and have thousands of fans at every game everywhere. What are you plans for the future? You have Mo, Delonte, and James, but Wallace and big Z are on the decline. Whats the plan? You need to find some big men and quick. I like JJ Hickson but your gonna need more.

You have these players expriring soon enough to be large play chips
Ben Wallace
Wally Szczerbiak
Zyldrunas Ilgaskus
Eric Snow
Anderson Varejo
Aleksander Pavlovic
Joe Smith

New Orleans in looking to dump money and fast. They have a future envisioned and Tyson Chandler does not seem to be to crucial for that future. Could the defensive minded Cavs find a better replacement?

Another solid possibility would be sending some more expirings to minnesota. Al Jefferson could be another solid big men but he also brings a scoring potential that your going to miss if you lose Zyldrunas.

There are probably more options out there but either way your gonna have to make some moves if you want to keep Lebron.

Ok I am no expert but this is what I think. Anderson we want back and I think he will be back. Z will finish his career here for at least one more year maybe even two he is one of the best centers there is. Now i love wally and if we can resign him for really cheap lets take him back. He is a pure shooter who fits in. This way we keep him and get his money. Now Sasha needs to go because I think Brown hates him. Smith, Wright, Snow and Kinsey are also out. Thats a good amount of money. Wallace will be gone in 2010 and thats a lot of money to be spent that year for LeBron and another all star. This off season Get your Great SG/SF, aka Ben Gordon in my opinion, for not tons of cash but enough and next off season, resign LeBron and a Stud Big Man, aka Amare Stoudmire. But thats getting ahead. I like going after Gordon for SG/Sf and also for you big men go after David Lee/Charlie Vill./McDyse/Al Harrington/Boozer. Any of those guys would fit. Personally I like David Lee so lets look at the new lineups.

2009/2010:
Mo/Boobie/West
West/Gordon/Boobie
Lebron/Wally/Gordon
Wallace/Lee/JJ/DJ
Z/AV
plus new Draft picks (preferably a Center), and a filler or two

2010/2011:
Mo/Boobie/West
West/Gordon/Boobie
Lebron(hopefully) Wally/Gordon
Amare/Lee/JJ/DJ
Z/AV
Both teams are a few people off but both are not only legit but getting better.

I think that Toronto will try and trade Chris Bosh. But I think if Bosh plays hard ball they will not receive equal value because he will not commit to signing an extension. So I think the Cavs may have a decent chance to pick him up. If JJ starts to look like he is definately coming along I can see a Ben Wallace/Sasha Pavolvic(1mil buy out)/JJ Hickson/(2) 1st rd picks for Chris Bosh/Jason Kapono.
The way the economy is I cant see Toronto getting closer to what Bosh is worth without him commiting to an extension.

I would take this and Run.

Mo Williams/Boobie
Delonte West/Boobie
Lebron James/Wally(resigned)
Chris Bosh/MLE
Zydrunas Ilgauskas/Anderson Varajao

I think we will re-sign Andy and in the 2010 bonanza, we will pick up Bosh or Stoudemire; Or we will trade for Bosh. I don't see LeBron going anywhere. He has a better shot winning multiple championships here than anywhere else.

I agree with Amon_Ones88 on the free agents. Would love to get Gordon and Al Harrington. Harrington would be a beast off the bench here IMO.

I would love to see Bosh on the Cavs but that is probably a pipedream. I can't see Toronto doing a salary dump and teams like Chicago could offer more talent than the Cavs. Colangelo has made some bad moves as GM in Toronto but I don't see him trading Bosh for capspace, JJ, and a few late 1st round picks.

The Cavs will need another big. Preferably one who is athletic and can play a little defense. Tyson Chandler comes to mind. He would be ok offensively too with LeBron feeding him alley-oops. The Cavs might have enough chips to entice OKC. Sasha Pavlovic's contract is only guaranteed for 1 mil so that will save a team 4 mil immediately. Maybe Ben Wallace would take a buyout if he is traded saving them more money. Wally could also be signed and traded with only the first year partially guaranteed and then bought out. So many options.

If the Cavs can't find a young big they can also try the above strategy to acquire Shaq. He would only be a short term fix but it could buy them time to groom another big and the Cavs would probably be favorites to win a Chamionship with Shaq.

And a note to the GSW fan who started this thread. We would gladly take Biedrins. Nellie doesn't know what to do with big men anyway.

Biedrins is definetly available, however the warriors are in rebuild mode and the cavs cant offer much youth. Cant see it happening.

We have enough offense in whatever starting five you look at. We need a stud big who can score but loves the glass and dee first. For the money if Charlie V. ops out of his extension, I've love to have that angry dude. He brings it.

I love Charlie V I do.
Thanks for the shout out RevMan.

I thik we need a new young starting big. JJ I do not think will ever be a starter but a hell of a bench-man in years to come. Bosh would be incredible, but i think unlikely. GSW I love Biedrins. All we need out side of that is another wing man. Gordon is my guy. So for more possible line ups for next year would be.

2009:
Mo/Boobie/West
West/Gordon/Boobie
LeBron/Wally/Gordon
Charlie V./Ben/JJ/DJ
Z/AV
+ fillers

Then sign Lebron, and Amare or Bosh (money should be fine because Sasha, Snow, Ben, and Wally's old contract free up a lot of cash) But by now we will need a new Center and hopefully we trade with GS for Biendrens with Draft picks and fillers.

2010:
Mo/Boobie/West
West/Gordon/Boobie
Lebron/Gordon/Wally
Bosh or Amare/Charlie V./JJ/DJ
AV/Bierdrens

+ any draft picks we may have gotten.

All possible I think.

Ok I think we have reached the land of hopes and dreams by getting Charlie V, Ben Gordon, Bosh, and resigning Lebron under the cap. Oh and Biedrens, wow. Outlandish.

Now as much as I believe we will have the ability to get better next season we have t do it smart. We wont be able to sign both Ben and Charlie for the MLE. If we offer that to Ben(is he still restricted) I think Chicago matches. He wants 8mil or more.

Now if Bucks remain in their situation we may be able to get Charlie V for the MLE(long contract w/max raises) Bucks may not match it. I can also see this possibly working for David Lee but I heard he is looking for 8mil also.

But I see this working in our favor because the more teams trying to use up their money makes better. A lot of teams wont be using their money so when Rasheed, AI, Artest, etc ae still out there with no offers we may get a 1yr deal so they can cash in on the 2010 money.

The other thing I see working for us is Pavs,Ben, and AV. Pavs is garunteed 1mil and we would likely only deal Ben to a team that will cut him so we can resign him. And I think AV stays until 2010 but he is also a valuable expiring that we can use if Negotiations dont work well.

If GS is really done with Biedrins and they are going dump I am willing to do:

Andries Biedrins/Jamal Crawford for Ben Wallace/Aleksander Pavolovic/1st rd pick '09/ cash

I may be willing to throw in the 2nd too and if the Cavs really think that AB can be their C of the future I would consider throwing in JJ for BWright and/or their early 2nd.

I dont know if GS would be able to say no to the deal regardless just due to the fact they save tons of money.

I think J.J. can be our starter of the future. I think J.J. has the potential and skills to be an "Amar'e" caliber player, but Mike Brown doesn't give him the time. And now with Joe Smith, and then when Wallace returns, Hickson will probably be on the IR.

Is there a chance that we can still get Gerald Wallace? I think he would be the perfect wing with Lebron.

I seriously doubt Biedrins is very available and obviously the Cavs don't have the bait. Nellie may be taking his stupid pills but the franchise does not plan to fold in a year or so when Nellie's done.

...and the Warriors have been in rebuild mode 30 years,so it's business as usual.

I would like to see Ferry work his magic and pull this monstrosity out of his bag of many tricks:

Cavs get:
Gerald Wallace
Tyson Chandler

Bobcats get:
Ben Wallace
1st rd pick(either our 1st or the one we buy late teen early 20s)

Hornets get
Pavs(1mil buyout)
Nazr Mohammed
3mil(half of Nazr salary)
[secondary trade: swap 2nd rd picks and 3mil for other half of Nazr 09 salary]

Mo/Kidd(MLE)/Boobie
GWallace/Delonte/Boobie
Lebron/Wally(resigned)
Tyson/JJ
Z/AV

I'm dreaming....yes....but it is so good.

Every bright cloud has a dark lining. Why is Boobie still on your cavs fantasy?
