Re: Lebron Leaving Cleveland with Title?
Pistons fan wanting to chime in: I'd be very unhappy with LJ if he signed with NY regardless of winning a title in Cleveland or not. Not that he couldn't turn the Knicks franchise around into a winner but Cleveland has done a great job of building a team around him that can win now and into the future. I've always been a big LJ fan and would love him in Detroit of course, but I think he belongs in Cleveland...

Another hack writer in NY trying to stay employed at a failing newspaper that has regularly printed made up stories on its front page saying Lebron is going to the knicks. And we end up with a topic about it in the middle of a playoff run that is the most promising ever for this team and fanbase. Take this subject and get it the **** off of our boards.
lol it's ok. And I agree, this topic needed to be locked a long time ago. (I said it in my first post in this thread.)

Re: Lebron Leaving Cleveland with Title?
This is what I wrote in the last post about Lebron and 2010...
new york fans and media....get your own superstar,,,,
STOP...Please just stop....Lebron is not going anywhere....
1. Cleveland got full-Bird Rights....No matter how much other teams may put up for bid for LBJ, Cleveland can match and more....
2. The City of Cleveland is just 30 - 40 miles away from his friends, family and home stomping grounds
3. What other team is more geared up for multible championship then the Cavs? Mo William, D.West, Hickson and Jackson are signed up for at least the next 3 yrs or more. Big Z is want to be back next year and have aready said that he would sign a extention and would would like to retire a Cavalier.
4. The Owner is a Multi-Billionire, he have already spent over the salary cap and have no issue on stay over the cap to keep Lebron, even with the bad economic times we going thru now...
5. Lebron main purpose in the nba is to win Multible Championships....he is 24 yrs old, he has about 6 more years of MVP performance in his body....why in the world would he want to go to the knicks, bulls, heat or detroit... to rebuild or take chance on chemistry to work, when he has everything he could of dream for in the Cavs???
All this crazy talk of Lebron not to staying in Cleveland need to stay off ofs our boards....

Re: Lebron Leaving Cleveland with Title?
I understands all the reason of why he would stay but what i would be worried about is why he hasn't just came out and said, i'm staying here. I'm happy in cleveland and i dont see myself moving on at this point unless we dont win here. I'm from Chicago and i look at Derrick Rose, Rose has said everytime that he loves chicago and its a dream to play in his hometown. I mean it was the kids decision to have the PA announcer say "From Chicago" instead of from memphis during pregame intrductions. To this is whats wrong with today's athletes but more so NBA players. No longer do they view basketball as a sport, they view it as a business and would cut ties and burn bridges to get as much money as they can.
I agree with one of the previous posters who said that Lebron might ruin his image if he left cleveland after winning a title. I feel that a lot of Bulls fans, Laker Fans, Magic Fans, etc, respect lebron and love his play. But i think if he goes to a hated franchise like the knicks and also leaves his hometown for more money, he'll just ruin his reputation. I mean think of how bad Arod hurt his reputation in the MLB after he left seattle and also how disliked he is now that he's in Newyork.

He has said that he's not going anywhere. Google search for Lebron's comments at an O'bama rally.

Re: Lebron Leaving Cleveland with Title?
The reason that he had not came right out and said that he is staying is becuase Lebron is not only a superstar, he is one smart cookie...He is up for a new contract after the 2010 season, why lowball himself when he can get the max amout of $$ by playing hard to get....Everyone knows that if given the chance Gilbert and Ferry is going to resign him, Lebron knows that if he gives cleveland the nod they are going to resign him...it is is all about how much money he and his hometown friends can out out of Gilbert. Nothing personal against the Cavs and their fans, it is all
buisness..

Re: Lebron Leaving Cleveland with Title?
What's funny is that LeBron has said all of that. He's said that he loves it in Cleveland and even that he wants to stay. But people come up with these little comments from his supposed inner circle that allude to him possibly leaving. To be honest if you read the article that this thread was based on it should have been titled "LeBron won't leave Cleveland without a title" but that's not nears sensationalist enough. Heck last week there was an article about Curry and even in that they had to bring up that LeBron liked Curry and maybe they'd be playing together in NY. They are just desparate

You obviously didn't pick up on the sarcasm.

I guess I need to post more on the cavs board so people don't confuse me with the damn knicks fans.

We are not in that day and age anymore. Jordan opened the market internationally. But now Lebron has the internet on his side because now you can technically be in Alaska and have your face everywhere. He can be on a jet and be in NY in hours and have many business ventures. If he goes to NY and they suffer or dont play as well he would do more harm to his image than if he stayed in Cleveland.
If Lebron wanted to do something he should help David Stern expand into Europe and plus help with a collective bargaining agreement that allows players to get paid Euros in european teams. And be a part owner and player of the 1st expansion team in Europe after his next contract. I think his image would explode in Europe and be able to thrive in the European economy as the American economy rebounds while stile playing in the NBA and being able to play in the states at least half the season. His avg annual should jump from below 50mil to 75 to 100 mil.
WOW...
