Manning up to my error, an apology to the King/Cavs fans

Post#1 » by Dedicated_76ers_fan » Fri May 15, 2009 5:52 pm

As many of you know, perhaps full well. A Year ago, in predictions of the NBA Season. I had the Cavaliers as a 45 win team(At best) and I had proclaimed that my Sixers were ultimately perfectly equipped to deal with the Cavaliers. I thought that an Iggy/Thad wing-duo was tall and long enough to be able to contest the King. I thought our front-court of Daly/Brand was wholly superior to an aging group. And I thought that Mo Williams wouldn't make a difference, and would infact only get in LeBron's way. As he too, needs the ball in his hands.

I was stubborn in that belief, pointing out in the first 24 games, the Cavaliers had to have one of the easiest schedules in the league. But as the season progressed and the Cavaliers continued to win, it was becoming more then a "fluke".

The Cavaliers simply were that better then everybody else. I didn't like the Cavs not because I was a LeBron hater, infact I was rooting for LeBron when he took the Pistons to 7.(And ultimately that series was the turning point that made LeBron THE king). I didn't like the Cavs because everyone had the Cavs penciled in as an Eastern Conference Finalist, whereas they had the Sixers at 5-7.

It was hard to admit, but easy to see. Delonte West, starting along-side Mo Williams in the back-court had Mo playing off the ball. Giving LeBron his first serious weapon to pass too. Delonte West also covered up Mo defensively.

LeBron is truly a Point-Forward in every sense of the word. Not only scoring the ball as frequently as he did, but making plays for his team-mates. And Z was a solid 3rd option.

I can't take back my words, it's already too late for that. But I ask Cavaliers fans to forgive me, and hopefully relations a new can begin between us.

I second that thought!! However it is understandable when your passion spills over, and you fill like nobody is giving your team any props. Sometimes the natural thing to do is to leach out against the perennial favorites, and it just so happen to be the cavs. I'm still laughing about the Mo Williams thing however , because I can recall some people from Philly debating me {laughing at me} about his effectiveness versus his ineffectiveness in the up and coming season. I'll have to pull that post up I think it was the best E.C. point guard by # only something to that effect and I mentioned Mo was arguably the best our in the top three # only. I also predicted if I'm not mistaken that Mo would avg 18ppg 5 dimes 3 reb. I'll pull that thread up later.

Anyway I said all this to say nobody really knows what's going to happen if we did we would all be you no what rich. Its just fun when your team does well and you can enjoy someone else eating crow. Also all you Milwaukee fans out there laughing at us about Mo : HOW DO YOU LIKE US NOW

Go ahead, why not. I was the biggest "hater", so I'm the biggest example. I take it like a man too.

I actually had one of your quotes during the prediction thread where you said that Boston, Detroit, and Philly will be the beast in East while the Cavs are probably around the 6th seed. Oh well, it does take a man to admit his mistakes and correct them. Forgive but never forget. There is no need to hold a grudge on that.

you're good man...you just believed in your team and kind of got blinded by the light - oh yeah, my first manfred mann reference on these boards

but you guys definitely need a shooter to vault into the upper echelon of the eastern conference
