Cavs Need to Make a Serious Run At Ben Gordon

Ben Gordon would've help you guys so much in the playoffs. He's a guy that would make you team an even more of a nightmare because he's an explosive scorer. He's one of those guys that doesn't have an off shooting night. I feel that this Cavs team needs to make a run at him because he would give Lebron a shure fire 20 point scorer that can shoot the lights out. Even though Mo Williams was a all star this year, Ben Gordon would've been if the Cavs had acquired him instead of acquiring Mo. Think about it. Even if it means paying the tax because you guys pay the luxary tax already and alot of cap are coming off the books this season.

Another undersized guard is not the answer IMO. And he is very ball dependent. I think a post scorer is what Cleveland could really use.

There is no way to acquire Ben anyway since the Cavs have no one that a team thast has cap room would want and the Bulls would not sign and trade Ben to the Cavs. Ben Gordon is a great spot up shooter so he would be perfect for a team that has LeBron or Kobe. He is undersized but he is not ball dependent. Mo Williams is ball dependent for his offense, Ben is not. Ben is closer to a Ray Allen typr player.

He's a slightly better version of Mo Williams, except he NEVER passes the ball unless he absolutely has to. When he's feeling it he's great, but he can be hyper-streaky. No thanks.

Ben Gordon would give the Cavs a player that would:

1. Team with Mo Williams to provide an incredibly porous back court defense.

2. Require the ball in his hands at the end of games to be effective.

3. Take and miss a lot of shots to get "his" points.

4. Use up the salary dollars that could be better spent on a front court player.

5. Drive the Cavs crazy with sloppy ball handling and unforced turnovers.

6. Out score Lebron for a stretch of most games, leading him to think that he can do so all the time.

7. Shake hands with opponents and face the media after playoff defeats.

8. Provide insurance in the event that any Cavs players leave via free agency in the next few seasons.

9. Frustrate Cleveland fans.

10. Continue to root for his childhood favorite Yankees.

uh no thanks. yes he is clutch. but he never met a shot he didn't like.doesn't pass the ball and is another undersized 2 guard. at least d. west plays defense. like i said, pargo or childress will do just fine!!

I'd prefer JRich. He's bigger and a better defender.

Jannero Pargo will be re-signing with the Hornets - so scratch that. Who said Childress was coming back stateside? I guess money talks...but...I haven't heard ANY reports about him coming back over...or interest in him by the Cavs...yeah...I also like Rasheed Wallace and Carlos Boozer as options for you'll.

I dunno about our GM, but the fans here would trade JRich for anything decent, we don't think he's worth his contract, but I'm sure you guys would spend to put talent around Bron so he won't leave. Amare hasn't been put on the blocks yet, but I think he's indirectly setting himself up for a max extension and I'm not so sure our GM would give it to him. If not then then he'll be on the block by Xmas as you mentioned. Likewise with Nash, he wants a raise when he gets his extension and our front office is waiting to see what's going on first.

Pretty much if we can rebuild in one go (trade for picks, young talent, expirings), we would. But if not then we'll wait till the end of next season when all the salary comes off the books.

Same division, but Rip Hamilton would be amazing.

Guy's great in the playoffs with tons of experience, can hit the big shot, plays great team defense and above average individual team defense, plays offense off the ball, and doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective, while fitting PERFECTLY into a team style of play.


If you could get him for an affordable price (and expirings and a late pick or two could probably get him), you'd be crazy not to.


And I'm a Pacers fan saying this. I hate the Pistons. I hate Rip Hamilton. But he'd be a perfect fit in Cleveland without hurting the team like a Ben Gordon seems like he would.
