To be fair with CV it was thought that he would only get the mid-level exception and that Boozer would be Detroit's target. Channing Frye would be a nice addition and hopefully it is a sign that the one trick pony we call Anderson Varejao is gone. Frye is at least as good a defender, rebounder, and adds a shot blocking presence.

Eh, when everyone on here was talking about getting Villanueva I mentioned that it'd come down to money and that Detroit was the team most likely to get him. I think the folks that thought they could get him for the MLE were looking through rose colored glasses. That being said, Frye not only won't get that much but if he did we shouldn't be bothering with him anyway.

He's a softy, but he's got a nice jump shot. I really wouldn't want him starting however. Heck, if we'd take Frye, why not pursue Gooden?

I don't think Gooden would be bad if he accepts the BAE, but Frye is a better defender, rebounder and shot blocker than Gooden. He has been buried on the bench in Portland with Oden, Pryzbilla, and LeMarcus Aldridge in the front court and Outlaw sometimes being played at PF.

He's not a better rebounder at all and I'd need proof about his defense since I've only seen it when he played us (and it was far from impressive). He is likely a better shot blocker and I like his length. To be honest, I'm surprised that they have him listed at 248 because he always appeared rather rail like to me.
