Carlos Boozer trade

Post#1 » by Pula_86 » Tue Jul 7, 2009 12:51 am

I know Boozer is not popular at all in Cleveland, but the objective is to win a championship. Boozer is still a physical force inside with a pretty good jump shot that I think would excel next to Shaq. This is what I am thinking:

Utah receives:
Big Z
Tarence Kinsey
Darnell Jackson
Daniel Gibson

Cleveland receives:
Carlos Boozer
Mehmet Okur

Utah Rationale:
If Jazz prefer, just Z for Boozer straight up. Clearing off Okur and Boozer allows them to waive Kinsey and Jackson's non guaranteed contract along with Big Z and resign Milsap. Unlike taking on Hamilton's contract, the Jazz clear a lot of cap space and save more on the luxury tax.

Cavs Rationale:
Boozer and Okur or just Boozer upgrades the Cleveland front line. There is no long term commitment for the Cavs with both contracts expiring. This would give the Cavs championship caliber team that would compete with anybody

PG Delonte West/Mo Williams
SG Lebron James/Mo Williams
SF Mehmet Okur/Danny Green
PF Carlos Boozer/JJ Hickson
C Shaq O'Neal/Channing Frye

bad not really, I think this trade helps the Cavs immensly

But this should be the lineup

PG Mo Williams /Delonte West
SG Deltone West/Danny Green
SF Lebron James/Danny Green
PF Carlos Boozer/JJ Hickson/Channing Frye
C Shaq O'Neal/Mehmet Okur/Channing Frye

thats a good team and a good lineup being Okur is not a SF, Lebron is not a SG and Mo is not a sixth man

but the Jazz say no

LOL @ Okur at SF. Thanks for the laugh.

BTW, West will not start ahead of Mo.

Probably a bit too good for the Cavs but as much as I don't think Boozer would be good for the Cavs I think it's a good trade for us. I will say it once again, I think Kirilenko would be a 10 times better fit on the Cavs than Boozer.

I actually like Kirilenko as well, however, Boozer only has one year left on his contract. With Amare and Bosh out there next summer (regardless if Lebron signs or leaves) the move gives the team options. Some fans don't realize how poor the front court was last year. Boston's backups of Leon Powe and Glen Davis are a better front court than Andy and Z. We need to stop over paying players who don't deserve their contracts. If Varejao is unwilling to play in Cleveland for 3-4 million then let him walk. I think that there is enough value in Z's expiring contract that a deal can get done.

I'm still holding out hope that Atlanta trades Josh Smith to the Cavs for Z's expiring contract to give them more room to resign Za Za and Marvin Williams. After resigning Bibby, I think they are over the cap and the franchise is not interested in paying too much luxury tax.

Varejao is worth more than 3-4mil, but I agree that it's never a good idea to overpay, especially in this economic client.

Outlaw, I have watched a lot of Varejao and I have got to disagree. I just don't see Andy as worth that much money. He is basically a high energy hustle guy similar to Chris Anderson except Anderson has shot blocking ability. I don't think he is better than Channing Frye when Frye gets the opportunity. As others have pointed out, with Shaq Andy does not really fit. I think you only bring Andy back for one year if you strike out with McDyess, Glen Davis. and exhaust trade options. The Cavs have been comically bad at overpaying players who just don't bring that much or what they need. At this point we know what we get from Varejao and it is not enough to command more than 3-4 million.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on his value then. Varejao may not fit next to Shaq (which I kinda disagree with) but he brought alot move value to our frontcourt last year than most players in the 3--4 mil neighborhood.

A much better trade.

Cleveland sends Varejao S&T (24/3) + 2010 first + 2012 second + Gibson for Boozer + Brewer + Balkman

Denver sends 9.5mil TPE + Balkman for Anderson Varejao (24/3) + Harpring

Utah sends Harpring/Boozer/Brewer for Daniel Gibson + 2010 First (CLE) + 2012 second (CLE) + 9.5mil TPE

Williams/West
Brewer/Green
LeBron/Balkman
Boozer/Hickson
Shaq/Z

Why do you people come up with these (Please Use More Appropriate Word) trade scenarios that have absolutely ZERO chance of happening? It's a waste of time to create these type of threads.

Unrealistic IMO. Want Okur, but Boozer can stay put.

sign Varejao and Wally to one year deals, AV $8 million, Wally $3.5 million
both players get overpaid so they accept one year deals

trade Z, Varejao, Wally (3 expiring contracts)

for

Boozer, Kirilenko

Utah
1-cuts $5.7 million from payroll this season, save $11.4 after taxes
2-gets rid of AK's contract
3-a lot of cap space for next summer

Kirilenko can play SF and PF. Boozer 32 minutes, LeBron 37 minutes, Kirilenko 27 minutes.

Do the Jazz even want to get rid of Boozer? Why would they take our spare parts for a season? Doesnt make sense.

And why do people keep making these random trades that no sane GM would actually make.

It looks like Jazz might be looking to trade Boozer to cut salaries in order to be able to re-sign Millsap.
Obviously, they are not going to just give him away but they are willing to trade him because they don't expect him to re-sign with Jazz in next off-season. It came as a shocker that he accepted the player option. LOL

Still the Jazz arent gonna trade Boozer, who gets about a double double almost every night for, Z and Wally, two old men and Andy an overpaid high energy player. I just dont see that happening. If it did though, what do you think Clevelands reception of Boozer would be?

Yeah. As i said, Jazz is not going to just give him away.
However, i must say i expect him to be traded before trade deadline (now or later).
