It is a long season and big men will find their way onto the court. Since Big Z and Shaq are as old as they are you really want to cut down their minutes and amount of games played in so they are fresh for the play-offs. That would open up a lot of opportunities for Hickson, Warrick (fingers crossed), and Varejao.

Warrick and Varejao can play center most nights with many teams moving to lineups with small post players. Even if we sign Warrick (fingers crossed), the final roster spot I hope is taken by Leon Powe. Although he will be out with an injury, I love his toughness and that is another component we are sorely missing in the post.

Warrick is gone. Powe is the perfect choice. He's out until spring, allowing JJ a chance to surprise. With the Cavs regular season prowess, the PF weakness will not really be exposed/crucial until the playoffs anyway. Powe is enough of a low post threat to play with either Big Z or Varejao if needed.

Yeah I agree. Though if Powe would agree on the Vet Min (that's all LA or ORL could offer, and those are his other rumored possible destinations) then we could still get Joe Smith for the BAE for extra insurance.

So JJ would get some mins while Powe is recovering to either up his trade value or get a spot in the rotation. And if Powe came back ready to go in the 2nd half of the season and playoffs, we would be pretty decent at PF.

Maybe I'm overvaluing Powe but the guy used to murder us. I think he could start here if he recovered.

Powe has been offered a contract, per Windy. I have to think he would accept it, as he's stated that Cleveland is his first choice. If he does sign here, I'm interested in the details of the contract. Seems he wants a two year deal, with a PO for the second. This wouldn't give us any bird rights on him if it happens. I can't see him getting anything more than the min right now.

I would save the BAE right now. Give JJ and DJ the minutes at PF (along with Andy, of course) early in the season. Then Powe should be able to come back later in the season closer to the playoffs. We could use the BAE on either a vet who gets waived later on, or if we trade Z, we can sign him back with it.

Well Warrick is gone. I rather have Leon Powe or Joe Smith.
