Which Players...

Post#1 » by eyejayem » Wed Sep 2, 2009 4:22 am

Which realistic non-2010 free agent mega stars are we willing to give up 2010 hopes for? I am just looking into the caliber of player or players we may be willing to put our 2009 push to championship and keep Lebron campaign forward. Obviously these are players that we can likely get that arent expiring(Bosh, Wade, etc) or some megastar that we cant get reardless(Kobe,Dwight,Chris Paul,Melo etc). I guess the Kamans, AKs, Monta, Josh Smiths, etc of the league.

2010's gone regardless...we have like 5 million if we let z and shaq expire

lets just win the championship this season and worry about the future later

If I had my pick of anyone to get that is not a free agent next summer, it would be Dirk. If he wants to win, he's going to have to request a trade. I realize this is Cuban's guy, but things could be a lot easier for him. Putting Dirk between LBJ and a resigned Oneal would be ridiculous.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Joe Johnson would still look great here.

Well, we are set at PG and SF, so we probably wont get any players at those positions. SG is a possibiliity because Delonte can move to 6th man and backup both PG and SG. C is a position we would only fill if we got a pretty young C that could grow. PF is the most likely position we will trade for this year.

Possible PFs: Bosh, Jamison, Diaw, thats all i can think of now

We have Powe at PF and Green at SG. Powe will be much more productive his second year around with us. Green will also be more comfortable in his second year in the league. Center may be are only vulnerable spot, however I would go after a above average PF like an Al Harrington. Or if we need a C go after Brendan Haywood

^^ Al Harrington is a chucker.

I say we need a center and/or a power forward. Shaq and Z are old, Hickson is unproven, Powe is unknown, and Jackson is, well....Jackson.

Yeah unproven and unknown. That's why I said that the second year will be vital for Powe, we can use this year as a litmus test. As far as Harrington yes he has been a chucker, but he has been the go to guy most of his career and that normally warrants most of the shots. That wouldn't be the case here, unless we make a trade for an athletic PF he's the best unrestricted free-agent out there

Tyson Chandler and Marcus Camby are options for us, both would need to be gotten using the most of our exceptions (assuming the cap is gonna be where it is predicted to be), or possibly a sign and trade deal but if we exercise our options on powe and JJ and make a qualifying offer to Jawad and sign lebron, we still have anywhere from 3 mil to 7 mil before using any exceptions. We could also resign shaq or Z using the bird exception and we know management will shell out money so going over wont be a problem.
