im a raptor fan and i watched parker play in the starting role for the 3 years he was here.
hes a great defender and a great shooter so i dont think you can go wrong. hes definately better than wally so dont worry about that. i would start him though just because hes a great defender and can get it going early in the game and carry it on till the end but he does a great job coming off the bench too so you cant really go wrong with him.

Re: Statistical effect of adding Shaq and Parker as starters
heres what i would do.
Start:
Mo
Parker
Lebron
AV
Shaq
at 5 min mark sub mo and Shaq for Big Z and Delonte. at 3 min mark sub Parker for Boobie.
Start 2nd with Mo, Delonte, Moon, AV, Z
Finish with:
Mo
Delonte
Parker
Lebron
AV/Shaq
Minute distribution:
Mo (33) / Delonte (10) / Boobie (5)
Parker (20) / Delonte (18) / Boobie (10)
Lebron (25) / Moon (18) / Parker (5)
AV (15) / Powe (16) / LeBron (11) / Hickson (6) / Darnell (1)
Shaq (23) / Big Z (20) / AV (5)
Total:
Mo (33) / Boobie (15)
Parker (25) / Delonte (18)
LeBron (36) / Moon (18)
AV (20) / Powe (16) / Hickson (6) / Darnell (1)
Shaq (23) / Bigz (20)
damn were deep this year, that was kinda hard to distribute.
now playoffs are different, but were still deep as hell. i think we got a legit 10 deep rotation.

Honestly, I don't think there is any way that Mo will play more minutes than Delonte.

The reason delonte wont start, is because he is the better player.. if he starts, with mo, lebron, shaq... there wont be too many shots for him... he should be coming off the bench in a Manu Ginobili role.
I agree with this approach but I think we are in the minority. Most Cavs fans seem to want to start Delonte.
I don't think it makes that much of a difference either way, but I agree with LBJ/Shaq/Mo Delonte will just get spot up jumpers which Parker can drill just as well.
Whereas with the 2nd unit, he will be able to create his own offense and work with Z. With Powe healthy, our 2nd unit would have Delonte/Z/Powe/Moon - that is alot of firepower.

1st unit
West
Parker
Lebron
Krusty
Shaq
2nd unit
Williams
Green/Gibson
Moon
Powe
Big Z
Different than the standard. With Lebron and Shaq you need guys that won't require the ball and can play off them. Both West and Parker are good at spotting up.
Someone mentioned Manu - well that is a good role for a scorer like Moe. Have him carry the second unit that way he isn't taking shots from Lebron and Shaq.

Parker will likely come off the bench but i'd surely play him in the final minutes. He's getting old and can't play more than 25-28 mpg but he's gonna be a heck of an addition, right what the Cavs needed.

Anybody else sick of just talking about the Cavs? I want to see them play already!

This lineup should be tried, along with

Shaq
I like this lineup:
Mo
West (to spread the floor)
Lebron (duh.)
Shaq (so he gains PF eligibility in my fantasy league).
Illgauskas (Twin towers baby!)

Re: Statistical effect of adding Shaq and Parker as starters
Raps fan here.
I think you guys are in for a pleasant surprise by what AP brings to the table. He can flat out shoot the three. With Shaq and Bron dishing from the inside, he will be gold.
He is a consummate pro that will adapt his game to whatever best helps the team. If you need him to provide D, he will give you solid D, if you need him to play guard he can do that well, if you need him to provide some scoring punch, he'll find a way. Problem with him as a Rap was we needed him to do all of that all the time. It was just to much on him and if he's overused he tires and makes errors.
He will find his role with your team and then give you solid minutes at it. He is a slow starter but usually kicks it in at around the quarter mark. Hopefully coaching doesn't get deterred by this and allows him some time to get it going.
AP was one of my favorite players to ever wear a Raps jersey. Pure class act that can still contribute to a winning team. If you guys make the run that you are expected to make this year in the playoffs I guarantee you AP will be a major contributor to it. He's the glue guy you've lacked in previous years. By years end he may not be your starting 2 but he will be the one finishing games at that spot.
