I don't think that you guys have a consistent meaning for primary scorer. To me the primary scorer is whomever the team goes to first in order to score points. That does not however mean that that person is the teams highest scorer. That is why I believe that Shaq will be the Cavs primary scorer this season. However, I also think that LeBron will be the teams highest scorer and the second option on the team.

To say that a reigning MVP is a second option to an aged out Shaq just sounds wrong on many levels. I can see the Cavs going to Shaq in the post for stretches, but I don't see LeBron taking a backseat to him either.

See that's the problem, being a second option doesn't mean you are taking a backseat. In my thinking the first option is the player that has the greatest potential to get a basket out of the possession. Ordinarily that is the player that can convert at the higher percentage in the post. Provided Shaq is still shooting 60% that is likely to be him.

I dunno I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Gasol beat Kobe in almost every efficiency stat but the Lakers are still Kobe's team, in no way is Kobe the second option. I just don't see Shaq at this point of his career to ever ever ever or even coming close to being the first option over LeBron James no matter how efficient he is.
