Trade Idea

Post#1 » by DumbyTheWizard » Thu Dec 10, 2009 1:31 pm

This trade works only after the date you can trade players that signed over the summer. I dont remember if its the 15 or 17 or 22 but its something close.
Cavs give Illguaskas, Hickson.
Cavs get Kwame Brown, CV.
WHY?
What CLE needs is a PF who can shoot from distance and be mobile. Thats exactly CV. Z could get a buy out from Detroit and come back to play in CLE and while its sad to give up on Hickson, he cant really play effectievly by Shaq/AV. And while Kwame is a bad player he could still give some good D minutes

Detroit gives Kwame, CV.
Detroit gets Hickson, Z.
WHY?
DET gets a chance to avoid the contract they gave CV because he is not the player you need around a Stucky/Gordon/Prince back court, and he cant play in the paint. They get Hickson who is a solid building block and can save some money but buying Z out.

If you think thats a bad trade for CLE then Detroit can swap picks with CLE or give a future pick.
If you think thats a bad trade for DET then Detroit can trade Maxill over Kwame, becuase he has a bad contract.
If you think CLE wants this trade but doesnt want it after you change Kwame for Maxill then DET can still add a pick.

CLE bigs rotation after the trade:
CV (32) / AV (12) / Lebron (4)
Shaq (28) / AV (16) / Kwame (4)

Pass.

BTW can't we have one thread for all these stupid trade ideas?

I noticed most of the other boards try to consolidate trade ideas into one thread.

How about Hamilton/Kwame/Maxiell for Shaq. Cavs get a starting SG that plays off the ball, a post defender, and eat Maxiell's contract in the process. Detroit gets added cap space. So how is Kwame's post and p'n'r defense?
Well at least we're not Detroit!

The Cavs should trade for Bargnani. They need defense and you need offense...its a perfect match!

A David West to CLE deal may take a 3rd team, but I just wanted to bring up a deal that has been listed many times before and one in which I'm totally for

Hornets trade:

David West (CLE)
James Posey (CLE) or Morris Peterson (CLE)

Cavaliers trade:

Z. Ilgauskas (NO)
J.J. Hickson (NO)
Delonte West (3rd team) or Daniel Gibson (3rd team)

3rd Team ???

Receives:
Delonte West or Daniel Gibson, and/or ???

Trades:

???

As you can see, this deal is VERY incomplete and I need the help of you Cav fans. Thanks.

Wouldn't give up JJ or West for West. We could very easily wait it out and see if he becomes more available near the deadline (which is most likely the case).

Wait to see if who is available around the deadline, West? If you're talking about him you're STILL going to have to give up what I stated. West's production and trade value will only INCREASE since Paul is back and Okafor is coming around strong and he will only continue to increase his play which will benefit West.

I find it unlikely we deal JJ, Z, and West/Gibson in the same deal without getting back more than Posey and West. West is certainly an upgrade over AV/JJ but JJ is young and is starting to really look like a good player and we have seen the disaster that is the Cleveland frontcourt injury situation. When Powe comes back that will be a different story but doing this deal would result in Shaq/AV at the 5, West/AV at the 4 with Lebron probably having to play more minutes at the 4 than anyone would like (especially Mike Brown who seems to be utterly confused on who to play when and where, so lets not confuse him more by making him play lebron at the 4).

And before someone gives me the argument "we can bring back Z," yes we can bring him back but only after 30 days, which with our frontcourt the way it is and the way it would turn out in this deal, might be a disaster. I would be much more open to dealing Z and another expiring (Wally in a S&T?) with picks and cash to a team willing to offload some of its team for draft picks and money.

Yes, West. And if NOH isn't in the playoff hunt, I highly doubt that.

We also need a PF who rebounds, plays help defense, and doesn't get lost making rotations.

That's not Charlie V.

I would consider the proposed deal for David West if it excluded Delonte. Then again JJ is what 10 years younger than West?

If you look at West's splits from his first 2 years they are identical to JJ's, in 2-3 years JJ could easily be a comparable if not better player - so it would be risky dealing him.

But West was an All-Star not too long ago and is still only 29. For THIS year we would be better off at least.

Well, sure, if West returned to all-star form.

We've come a long way by placing efficient shooters around LeBron who don't need a ton of shots. The way West has been going lately, we'd be seeing 9-13, 24pt, 12 reb efforts mixed with 6-15, 13pt, 6 reb efforts. Chris Paul was back for both of those games, btw.

The Hornets just lost to the Knicks over the weekend. Paul's ankle is obviously still bothering him.

Personally I don't think David West is a great fit next to Okafor. They are both a bit undersized for the C and PF positions. I could see the Hornets potentially package West with one of their bad contracts if they don't improve over the next month or so.

Hickson has alot of work to put in before he reaches his ceiling but I still wouldn't trade him for David West.
