LeBron and screens

Post#1 » by LBJ » Thu Apr 8, 2010 3:52 am

Am I the only Cavs fan who thinks that LeBron gets way too many screens? Am I the only person who wants to see LeBron get more ISOs and post-ups?

As I was pondering this, I reminded myself if LeBron only posted up or took guys off the dribble that other players (big men) might not get involved and become spectators. they get mismatches and guys like Hickson and Varejao going to the hole on pick-and-rolls but i would love to see him get more 1 on 1 opportunities. Kind of like Melo always does in the half court.

Lebron loves the pick and roll. He always has.

I actually think he is most effective 1 on 1 without a pick, but he likes using the pick and roll to setup his bigs and shooters with open looks.

I think it's just part of his personality, always looking for the pass.

Ya LeBron setting screens would be intimidating.

what about the idea of setting off the ball screens for LeBron so he gets the ball when the defensive player is off-balance so he can go for the J or a drive? Kind of like Ray Allen style but he could shoot or drive or even pass depending on the situation.

It wouldn't hurt to try that, but thats not really the Cavs style.

Wow, I don't think I have ever seen Lebron set a pick for his teammates before...

IMO the pick and roll is where he thrives. He has the vision of a PG and is a fantastic scorer so you're really screwed no matter what you do defensively.
