I said this on the general board on the same kind of topic. I would unofficially "retire" the number by not allowing anyone to ever wear it again but not actually retire the number. It would be an open shot at Lebron his entire career and life after basketball that his number is so tainted it can never be seen or spoken of in Cleveland.
