Semih Erdan & Luke Harangody for 2nd round pick!

I am not too hot on Semih. I am glad that we have another athletic, big body, but he is already 24. Yes, he should improve some with the extended mintutes he will likely get, but I do not expect a double double guy. My guess is that he would top out around 8/5, but if he can block some shots, that would be a big plus.

As a celtic fan I think cleveland got a great deal. The celtics will have a big problem if any of there bigs go down. With Erden and Harangody they were both serviciable emergency backups who could develop into rotation players. I thought we would not trade these two I had envisioned Erden becoming th bacup center and in a year or two and Glen Davis becoming the starting power forward when garnett retired or traded and Harangody being his backup. Stupid trade to get rid of young cheap players who know the system and can fill in a pinch for a second rounder. C's lost depth and this trade looks real stupid after trading perkins.

The Celtics did the deal for two reasons: 1. luxury tax avoidance. 2. Clear roster spots for veterans who may be bought out, e.g. Troy Murphy.

I am very high on Erden. He's not some inexperienced kid. He's 24 and he made a significant contribution to the Turkish team in the FIBA World Championships in 2010. He knows how to score and rebound. His hands are not that bad, but he does need to learn how to stay out of foul trouble.

Harangody can also score and he gives 110%. IMHO the best comparison is a poor man's right handed Matt Harpring, when Harpring was a young player.

Much shorter. Not as good of a shooter. But at least he tries on defense!

Maybe we can turn Erden into the next Varejao? One thing we do have to offer is playing time.

Erden is actually more of an offensive guy. I'd say he's worth some time. Offense producing centers are becoming a rarity these days.

I'm writing from Turkey and this is my 1st post to Cavs forum.

Erden doesn't have enough capacity & skills for being in the starting lineup of any Nba team. but he is a good back up C for your team, he can make double doubles if he gets 20-25 minutes per game.

Hey, I will take a double double from Semih as a starter if he can reasonably defend the postiton. That would allow JJ to move back to PF though I think to this point JJ has played much better at C than PF so far in his career. Welcome to another Turk!

Erden, Asik, Fesenko, Koufos, Gadzuric, Kristic..

Non of these european guys have enough potential for playing in the starting 5's..

Class A : Divac, Sabonis (Legends for their team)
Class B : Pau Gasol, Bargniani,Ilgauskas (When he was playing for Cavs) (Performs well on their teams lineups)
Class C : Every european big boys in NBA..You can add Marcin Gortat, Marc Gasol & Zaza Pachulia to the list..

Asık, Gortat these guys wont be a star but they can be solid starters for spesific teams.ı think you meant star players before.Asık doesnt have any offense but he is a good defender, a great rebounder and he blocks shots.He can do well in teams like Miami or New York. He wont have to score.They need rebounds and inside presence.He can give them what they need.Erden is not dominant in any aspect of the game yet.In my opinion he cant be a starter for now.But if he improves, may be.I dont know.

Also i dont agree with you about Bargniani.If you compare him with Pau ,well he is a scrub.He has 21 PPG with 0.4 FG%,0.33 3PT%,5 RPG, 0,7 BPG.he is a chucker.Yet he is the best player of Toronto.It doesnt make him good.It means (if i say politely) Toronto is a bad team.

Yes, you are right.. I'm not such a fool who compares Pau & Barg. Raptors organization really sucks,but Barg is one of the most important players of them for 3 years..Do you think that Semih would become such an important player for Cavs?
