What can Clippers fans expect of Mo Williams?

Post#1 » by Leor_77 » Fri Feb 25, 2011 6:16 pm

And to some extent Moon. I think this forum would be the best place to ask, as you guys obviously know a lot about him.

I will say of Baron Davis...If he is motivated and healthy, he can take over a game. For his size, he has shown a great ability to penetrate to the basket, and either finish or dish it out. He also has shown a decent ability to hit three's. You should get some good production out of him right away, as he has been balling lately. He's also a pretty awesome locker room guy. Lifts everyones spirits, and sticks up for his teammates. I'll actually check out some Cav's games, because I'm curious how he will fit in with your system.

Mo Williams will probably get you more threes, less alley oops, and about the same defense. He'll probably play off ball a lot more than Davis too.

Mo:
Poor defender, good jump shooter, plays well off the ball, CAN dribble drive (although it's not his strength), decent passer (not as good as Davis IMO)...He will make for a nice third option behind Griffin and Gordon.

Jamario:
Decent defender (very thin frame), decent (although streaky) jumpshooter, good finisher around the rim

Both are fairly fast on their feet, and with the offense being primarily ran through Gordon and Griffin, Mo will be a nice compliment at the PG position. Moon, he is definitely a backup wing player at best.

Mo is also a really good guy. Of all the remaining Cavs, he took it the hardest when LeBron left. His tweets almost sounded suicidal after 'the Decision' and hasn't been the same player this season. He probably needed a fresh start with a new team. As a shooter he is a good 3rd or 4th option on a playoff team but not sure how he will mesh with Eric Gordon who is also undersized. Mo won't freeze Gordon out like Baron was doing. At the very least you will get good production from him as a shooter off the bench if you don't want to start him as I am assuming he will start to play like the old Mo with the change of scenery. Like Baron, Mo has not been 100% healthy this year and playing thru nagging injuries.

Mo is as streaky of a PG that you can find... The part I think that goes unnoticed about Mo is his ball handling ability and the ability ti keep the dribble alive and make a play... He's very underrated in that aspect...

He can get hot from mid range and dominate at times and IMO, is a big shot taker and big shot maker...Since it's the regular season, you should find that Mo is pretty damn clutch in big spots... As soon as the calendar turns to May (Clippers don't need to worry about that yet) Mo will fade and will fall flat on his face...

Mo is really one of the best shooters in the league. He gets so much hate on these forums but people forget how skilled he is. The Clippers lack outside shooting he will do a lot to open things up for Griffin. Also his passing isn't that bad, he was one of the best alley oop passers to Lebron and he will be able to do the same with Griffin.

The problem with Mo is that he is weak mentally. Examples of this are continually choking in the big playoff games and unable to play effectively this year with his boy Lebron gone. However, I think he will like his situation in LA and be very effective again. Mo will help you win regular season games and he will compliment Griffin very well. When Mo is in top form the Clips will be one of the best offensive teams in the league.

Mo is horrible!! People talk about Baron being overpaid, Mo IS NOT worth $17 million for 2 years; Ray Charles had more court vision. Our G.M (Clippers) got hosed by the Cavs.
We gave a 1st & saved 12 million over 2 years for Jamario "over the" Moon & Too slow Mo (his game IQ)
The Cavs are in perfect position to rebuild, maybe the Knicks will want Baron?

I want Baron back Mo is pure trash at running a team and can't set Blake up consistently to save his life. The team does not run in transition as we use to which I remember was a huge knock on the Cavs playing so slow. Mo has yet to have one game where a PG does not bully him and get inside at will we have to hold him out during the 4th most of the time.

Yeah but when he is "on" his shooting is beastly and can win games by himself like he did during that 5 game win streak you guys had. Baron is a very good PG and I can see that Mo would pale in comparison with his play-making skills.

Yeah, the Clips are playing better with Mo than they did before him

The Clips play better as a team when MO is on the bench or has 2 Techs

I know they are winning more. I was happier with the way they were playing before, they lost more. But, I guess it's not as pretty and maybe Blake isn't getting as many dunks.
