The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed Erie BayHawks rookie D.J. Kennedy for the remainder of the 2011-12 season, the Cavaliers announced Saturday.
Kennedy, who will wear No. 12, was expected to join the Cavaliers Saturday and be available for today's game at San Antonio against the Spurs. Cleveland (21-41) has four games left this season.
A 6-foot 6-inch, 215-pound shooting guard, Kennedy averaged 15.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 44 games in the regular season in helping the BayHawks earn their third playoff appearance in four D-League seasons.
A Pittsburgh native, Kennedy joins former BayHawk point guard Donald Sloan, who last month signed with the Cavs for the remainder of the season.
Before this season, Cleveland invited Erie forwards Mychel Thompson and Kyle Goldcamp to training camp.
Thompson made the team before being waived in February. Goldcamp didn't make the roster.
The Cavs were one of two NBA affiliates for the BayHawks in their first three D-League seasons. The BayHawks became hybrid partners with the New York Knicks before this season.
Sounds like another Alonzo Gee tbh (hopefully)
