OT: Reviewing the clippers trade

You know, its pretty remarkable how much that trade really did impact both franchises, and no one really seems to talk about it (in the mainstream media, anyway)

The Cavs were almost left with "just" Tristan Thompson for that god awful season, and the Clip joint almost had Irving, Griffen, Gordon and Minnesota pick in this years draft.

They averted themselves a potential dynasty.

Yeah, thank god for the clippers. That Clippers team would have been tough.

Cavs would of taken Brandon Knight over TT I'm convinced.

For the Cavs it could have had huge implications, most probably bad, but potentially good ones for the long term.

If you guys had picked someone like Brandon Knight and ended up with a considerably worse season, you could be looking at Knight - Thompson - Davis with Varejao and Mo as trade pieces, but given how KI has performed, I think the current configuration is more desirable.

As for the clipps, I don't think it would have changed that much, they probably still go after CP3, and I doubt that they somehow would be able to keep EG, more likely it the Minny Pick would have stayed in Lob City. Hm, if that Minny pick goes 1 THAT would have been something worth watching... CP3-x-x-Griffin-Davis ...

But probably the side most impacted would be the Hornets... Fastest possible rebuild, they would be looking at a perimeter duo of Kyrie and Eric Gordon with a solid Center in Okafor and a possible ADavis..., I think that's spelled Dynasty...

How would we have both Knight and Thompson if we hadnt traded Mo, wouldnt it have been one or the other?
Not to hate on Thompson, but I cant imagine where the team would be (or our outlook on the team) if they hadnt made that trade and he was our only pick from last year.

we could have easily ended up with Knight/TT if we hadn't won the lottery with the Clippers pick. Knight with 4th, and TT with 8th seems very likely.

But yeah, no TT without trading Mo. Although, using the butterfly effect logic, if that trade doesn't go through, we could still win the lottery with our own pick.
