#10 available

Post#1 » by dukeknicksirish » Fri Jun 8, 2012 11:32 pm

The pick is available by NO but only if you'd take back either Ariza or Okafor...

Now with Thompson and Varejo, I don't see any use for Okafor, but Ariza could be a good pick up to o along with the pick.. Them draft both Barnes and potentially Terrance Ross from Washington and Lamb from Kentucky with #24.

Who would you offer for the pick and Ariza?

5.Varejo
4.Thompson
3.Barnes/Ariza
2.Ross/Lamb
1.Irving

That is a strong and young team in the making.

Thoughts?

I'd rather have Okafor, he can always be traded somewhere else next year when he's a EC. I don't see Ariza helping someone as much.

Walton++ for Okafor, #10

I don't know if the Cavs have a lot that would interest the Hornets. They really won't need Andy since they will be drafting Davis and they are trying to shed salary. (I know Andy isn't really overpaid, but he isn't UNDER paid either.

My only thought would be the 24, 33, 34 and maybe S&T Gee? That's a REALLY low ball offer though. IMO.

I am so glad some of you have no GM'ing power. I'd take Okafor and the 1st for cap space and maybe one of the picks, but no more

Next years 1st and one of this years 2nds for Okafor & #10?

NO gets out from Okafor's contract and picks up a first next year that will probably end up in the middle of the round. Plus they get an early 2nd in a deep draft this year.

Cleveland takes on a big contract but it will be up before they have to sign their youngsters to big second contracts. They swap next years 1st for #10 which gets another young player in the door a year earlier so he can grow with the rest of the young guys.

Cavs are not going to give up their first next year. You are just dreaming.

Walton and 24 for Okafor and #10. I still do not see the Hornets doing that

That would be about my absolute best offer too.

Maybe next years Mia/LA pick and one of this years 2nds, but moving both 2nds wouldnt be out of the question as there has been conversation about packaging the pick(s) to move up anyway. Or the Sacto pick and a 2nd(s). Obviously Walton thrown in to match salary.
Okafor and Andy would be solid in the post, and that would allow us to look to drafting a big next year rather than a project C this year in the 2nd. At 10 there would be a real possibility of shoring up the opposite wing to the 4 pick, and still would allow us to use 24 for whatever position we would be looking to fill, or just BPA.

While I appreciate Outlaw not calling me out I guess I just put more value on the 10 then others. Of course I'd rather do Okafor and the 10 for Walton and the 24. I just don't know if NO would. And obviously I wouldn't offer all our assets for the 10 if I was the GM, of course I wouldn't be posting on here if I was the GM.

We all make bad offers sometimes.

How about absolutely nothing in exchange for Okafor, Ariza, and #10. They save a ton of money. We 2 a high pick and two rotation players.

New Orleans is suddenly a destination. When they take Davis, it will make re-signing Gordon easier. They will literately be an offensive center or a PG away from competing for a playoff spot next year. And that team needs to compete for its value. Okafor and Davis are fairly redundant, much like the Cavs with Thompson and Varejao.

If they can move 6-7 million in salary, it allows them to be players and go after Hibbert, Williams, Lopez, whoever.

Your offer wasn't even that bad, you were just saying what the max you would be comfortable with

Sounds like they'd be looking for a little more...
