I think it's funny that Cavs coach says that the Cavs needed a big of course discounting the fact that technically Leuer is actually a big.

I remember a Hollinger tweet from last year along the lines of 'Marreese Speights was passed the ball 26 times last night and he only passed the ball once.'

He will be one of the biggest black holes in the NBA but he can score and rebound and empty stats will be an upgrade over the alternatives right now.

That's because his role is to space the floor as a pick and pop big.

TT's improvement as a passer helps too.

I remember when TT did the same thing last year, seeing him with 5 assists last night made me proud of the progress.

Neither Selby nor Pargo could earn the backup PG last year and we brought in Gilbert Arenas in desperation. This year we brought in Bayless and Selby could not get off the bench. He was Summer League MVP this past year though and as someone said at the time - if you go 75% from 3 in ANY league even without being defended it's impressive. He could not miss!

According to this thread, most posters on the draft board thought he was a better prospect than Beal or Waiters.

Most posters on this forum know next to nothing.

I'm not too worried about Selby not being able to perform as a backup PG on a team trying to be a contender, they brought in Gil because he's a vet and had he panned out, he would have been a lethal asset of the bench. Selby needs a place where he can play through mistakes, and not be benched for them. I'm pretty excited about having a guy like him here to potentially backup Irving long term. We'll see about whether or not that can actually happen, but the point is he was literally a no risk investment and this is where he has the best chance to actually become what he was pegged to become.

All I know is that the acquisition of Speights and Ellington has already paid dividends. It was those 2 along with Livingston that led comeback against Milwaukee while Kyrie was on the bench to start the 4th. It's refreshing when the bench can not only hold a lead, but can actually continue to claw back into a game without the starters on the floor.

That was one of the most entertaining games I've seen in awhile. What a blast. Having a bench is really cool.

I'm really starting to like these guys. Speights has really done wonders for our second team. No wonder he gave up his bird rights to come here. He can get 27 minutes and 13 shots.

Unless we get an offer that blows us away, I hope we hold onto both Speights and Ellington. A healthy team next season could be very interesting if they defend consistently.

Irving/Livingston
Waiters/Ellington
Muhammed?/Gee
Thompson/Speight
Varejao/Zeller
Well at least we're not Detroit!
