C.J. Miles Hopes Cavaliers Pick Up Team Option For Next Year

Post#1 » by IMHO » Mon Mar 18, 2013 3:31 am

C.J. Miles believes he made the right choice in signing a two-year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers last offseason, enjoying the best three-point shooting year of his career.

Miles hopes the Cavaliers pick up the team option on his deal for next season, as he feels he can play much freer under Byron Scott and the organization.

“If they decide that I’m not part of what they want to do here, I think I’ll be fine come summer time given the way I played this year,” Miles said. “Hopefully I’m still here with these knuckleheads.”

... i hope not tbh

+ 1 on the hoping not. Hoping we can pick up some solid contributors in the off season/ draft or we might be forced to re sign him for one more season. He's really not good though.

I'd take Livingston over Miles anyday. His game is more complete by far. If Miles is on his okay but that's not frequent enough for me.

Livingston and Miles serve completely different roles on the team. Depending what we do in the draft, we may have to let both go to open up playing time, but they've both contributed and helped our offense rise from the cellar to 16th in the league.

Now, I could see us letting Miles go in order to keep Ellington and open up minutes for a rookie SF (where Miles has played some backup minutes).

Livingston is basically our backup PG. I can't see us drafting another one, and don't see any reason we'd let him go.

As for CJ Miles, I can't imagine the scenario where we wouldn't be looking to draft his replacement with one of the two firsts.

In his favor, CJ is signed cheap for next season and can potentially be used as trade bait. Wayne is going to be a RFA, and Shaun will be a UFA. So for them, our interest is going to depend on their offers.

He's paid the appropriate amount of money for a bench player. Like 50% or less of what Boobie has stolen the last 5 years.

Im ok with Miles coming back, and his pay isnt out of line for his role, but if it comes down to either him or Ellington I would much rather have Ellington back. I am also very happy with what Livingston has done and would like to see him back. Depends on how the draft falls out, if Porter and Noel are gone it would seem that we would probably go SG at that point so it may end up that Miles and Ellington arent brought back.

No thanks....You are the biggest chucker I've seen ever. Is it possible to look up FGA per minute or a ratio of touching the ball to shooting it? I bet miles would be the league leader in these categories or very close to leading.

If it were not for his terrible shooting in November, Miles's stats would actually look rather efficient. Does he take a lot of quick threes? Yes. Is he coming off the bench to provide a scoring spark? Yes.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

I think it's funny that fans actually worried that we wouldn't be able to replace Jamison's chucking. CJ is actually taking few shots per minute compared to Antawn last year, and unlike Antawn doing it with decent efficiency.

Yeah, he's adverse to passing and his defense is nothing to write home about, but it's hard to argue at his price.

Um Jamison scored more and I doubt at that much worse efficiency. Miles shoots what 40 %. Overall hrs a liability besides the 5 times he's got hot this season.

Being OK with Jamison's random ass scoop shots the second he got the ball is stupid. He was terrible, he was a 'power forward' that shot 42%.
