The only reason Asik or Gasol or others are names in the media mix these days is the Cavs are looking to grab the castoffs from someone who picks up Howard (and then must clear cap space). Think of the Cavs as Marc's Discount Stores. Our motto: "We buy someone's excess for cheap and sell it to us their customers the fans". I still hope Grant still makes a medium sized splash by signing Pek but realistically who wants to come to Cleveland? And is CLE going to spend its assets now when you ghave to overpay to get FA's to come here? FA's know for other players that this place is dull 9 months out of the year. We likely will have to trade to get something big to happen.

I also heard that Clevland has even more potential cap space because some of the bigger contracts we still have are not guaranteed completely.

We may make the playoffs next year but only because Boston and Milwaukee are blowing it up.

Sucks to be a Cleveland fan as usual.

God I hope Bennett is a super stud that no one saw coming.

the pelicans are looking to move lopez because of issues related to their cap if tyreke accepts that offer sheet...he can essentially be had for a 2nd rounder right now, and i wouldn't mind adding him considering we'll likely move andy by the deadline for a wing and a 2015 pick (to avoid any more cap holds in 2014)

If that's all true, then you grab Robin Lopez...wouldn't mind even a couple 2nd rounders. He's a decent player, on a team strategy friendly contract. Depth allows you to move Andy later too.

Minny signing two free agents plus there pick will require them to trade someone if they match offers for PEK. Hope we at lease make an offer in the 8 to 9 mill range

Require them? Plus, any offer under $10 million is laughable.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Pek is a guy I absolutely would be interested in. He wouldn't be able to play the up and down the court game, but this team sorely lacks someone to protect Kyrie (and the rim). When Kyrie hurt his shoulder the play was somewhat of a cheap shot in that the defender threw his hip out as Kyrie drove baseline.
With a player like Pek, the guy who does something like that is going to get dropped by a 290 pound monster the next time down the court. If Kyrie is going to be the best player on the team (which he is) you absolutely need someone to protect him.
Mark Price was the best player on the best Cavs teams that I have seen, and Rick Mahorn hit him with a blindside elbow to the back of his head, giving him a concussion towards the end of that season and the Cavs were done. There was nobody on that team to stand up to Mahorn. Had we not traded Oakley for Keith Lee (#$%$#^*&%$#) that team would have had someone to protect Price, and I guarantee that if Mahorn would have done that (I doubt he would have) he would have needed a stretcher to get out of that arena.
Point being, that with a small player being the best player on a given team, there has to be someone to protect him to keep the other teams from taking cheap shots at him.
Pek would be that guy imo, money well spent.

Okay, Earl Clark is the first signing. We still have a large hole in the middle, I just don't see TT being a real option at C. Andy cant be counted on to stay healthy an entire season, especially if he logs heavy minutes in the middle, and unless Zeller makes HUGE strides and has gotten a lot stronger I just don't see him as the answer either.
If Bennett cant play the 3, we now have a logjam at PF as well a shortage at SF. I expect to see at least one or two more signings, and backup PG still needs to be addressed (hopefully with Livingston).
