Outside shooters

Post#1 » by jbk1234 » Sat Jul 13, 2013 3:39 am

It's slim pickins but we need outside shooters. Not sure about the floor spacing at this point. I'm thinking Hamilton on a league minimum. Hopefully my fellow Cavs fans have better ideas.

I don't think of Hamilton as a shooter

I don't see floor spacing as a problem for this team at all. You don't have to knock down threes all day to space the floor, you just have to have guys who are a threat to hit them.

Kyrie, Waiters, Jack, Clark, Gee, Miles, Karasev, and even Bennett have range to the three. That's more guys than you'll even be able to play.

Kyrie, Jack, and Dion are all decent spot-up shooters if only they can all learn to play off each other. If they do, I suspect we'll be seeing all 3 on the court together when the offense stalls.

Gee should be shooting a ton of corner J's because he hasn't been good.

Miles should be good, but didn't actually shot many spot up 3's last season.

We'll have to see with Karasev and Bennett. Can't say more than that they have potential.

Mike Miller was just amnestied, though he is a cripple, he is still a lethal shooter.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

I would laugh at the Miller comment if there wasn't an indication we are interested. Apparently we're trying to assemble the worst perimeter defense the league has ever seen.

As bad as the Cavs' defense might be, a lineup of Waiters/Gee/Clark can probably suffice when we need to shut the other team down on the wings. Gee and Clark are proven plus defenders, and Waiters has the capability to become one.

I'm all in favor of Miller as a cheap 15th man/situational floor stretcher/Walton-type who also can shoot the ball.
