Thank god a players worth is not judged on his most recent half season on a lottery team.

I think Deng's time in Cleveland is going to have a negative effect on his market value. He legitimately looks like he's lost a step. His flaws are also magnified in Cleveland, while they were shielded in Chicago. I think suitors will take that into account.

If Deng continues to play poorly, it may have some detrimental effect. But there's a massive list of contracts that pretty much indicates that most recent performance is not a massive consideration when paying out established veterans. Guys that really signaled their steep decline like Gerald Wallace, Richard Jefferson, Caron Butler were still paid like they were actually...good players. I'm not comparing Deng to them-- I don't actually think he's declined. But I think even if Deng was to play this way the rest of the season, he'll fetch upwards of 12 million per year.

Are you his agent? JK, but I do think you are overvaluing Deng by a bit. Upwards of 12 mil? I just don't see it.

I don't think he's worth it. Which is why I've been screaming trade Deng since last year's deadline, and was pleased with our return (even though it was meager compared to what we could have gotten had we traded him when I wanted to). But 2 time allstars still in their 20's get paid, particularly if they're 6'6'' or taller. I don't see a lot of FA's in this class better than him, but I do see a TON of teams under the cap.

If he gets paid 10 mil or less, and he is worth that imo, then the Bulls probably made a mistake and should have kept him.
