The Miami Heat have denied making an offer of Goran Dragic and Justise Winslow to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kyrie Irving.
In the wake of that report, the Heat took the rare step under the leadership of Pat Riley of publicly denying that any offer, of any sort, had been made for Irving.
The Heat believe the Cavaliers are asking for too much in exchange for Irving.
Irving has three years remaining on a contract that pays $18.9 million this coming season.

Re: Cavs trying to drive the price up on Kyrie?
^^^ comes as no surprise because the Heat have nothing the Cav's want anyway. No picks for years, no young bluechippers worth trading for. Just an old version of KI's little B in Dragic, a disappointing and over rated player in Winslow and no one else that they want either. The cavs would have to have gotten back Adebayo at minimum for them to even talk to Miami. & a 3rd team would have to be involved to provide picks and a vet or vets.
What the Cavs expect to get is not too much,it's just too much for Riley on the surface because he wants the Cav's to not get a fair return.
So long as teams low ball the Cavs it still won't matter when he has not yet been traded eventually one of the teams that has assets and really wants him will pay what is due.
added:
Every team that was one of KI's preferred destinations that doesn't have enough to get him is going to act like what the Cav's want is too much.
In fact every team in the league that doesn't want him or teams that do but throws low ball unfortunate offers & doesn't offer what the cav's want benefits from any smearing of the situation that is out there, for one in hopes the Cav's would settle on a loser deal like Indy and Chicago did benefiting the direct competition to Cleveland going forward etc.
The Cav's will get more than most people think , because their thinking is based on different circumstances of lesser players.

So you don't understand how trade talks go then? Hypothetically, the Wolves throw out Deing, whatever prospect they have, & a pick, the Cavs shoot it down, & it leaks. Do the Wolves admit they had Deing on the block?

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

I know how they work very well my friend..... The team that is not getting offered what they want for their player throws out a bunch of offers that are not real to try and pump up the price. It is a tactic as old as the sun... It actually has worked at different times for different teams. As you know teams do not usually come out publicly to state they haven't made an offer. The Timberwolves under Thibs will never say anything publicly one way or another. In this case the Heat chose to because they hate Gilbert grape. I think teams know this is a toxic situation and he will get traded for less than he is worth. When I say that I am a guy that thinks Kyrie is a stud and is worth Wiggins and Dieng for instance. I am a big fan of Wiggins (some are not) I think at 22 years old he is just scratching the surface of what he could become. I also think if he is paired with Lebron he will become an absolute monster. There is not a player rumored to be offered that has a ceiling even close to Wiggins and paired with Lebron I believe he reaches that ceiling. Just my two cents!!!!! But I also think Lebron does not like Wiggins game for some reason and that is why the trade with the Wolves will not happen.

If the Heat could get Kyrie for Dragic & Winslow they'd take that run. I have no doubt they floated that proposal.

Whatever the scenario that package is terrible so I don't see how that drives up kyries trade value. That's absolutely worst case scenario.
