Please let me know how far from reality this one is. I know it's far from reality just because of all the moving parts, but it makes sense on a basic level to me, and I think it makes the entire league a bit more fun. Okay, 5 teams involved: Cleveland, NYK, Phoenix, Denver, Portland. Here's the breakdown:
Cleveland gives up: Irving, Frye, Shumpert, Love, future 2nd round pick
NYK gives up: Carmelo, Ntilikina, future 2nd
Phoenix gives up: Eric Bledsoe
Portland gives up: CJ McCollum
Denver gives up: Wilson Chandler, Kenneth Faried, future 1st.
Cleveland gets: Carmelo, Wilson Chandler, CJ McCollum
NYK gets: Irving, Faried
Phoenix gets: Ntilikina, NYK 2nd, Cle 2nd
Portland gets: Love, Denver 1st
Denver gets: Bledsoe, Shumpert
I have thoughts explaining the picks and the players, but...first impressions?

Re: Irving trade idea
Cavs aren't going to trade Love & Irving.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Re: Irving trade idea
not a realistic trade really , but even if it were doable, The Cavs would not give up that much for such a small return.

Even with Kyrie's trade request? It doesn't seem as though the Cavs are worse off with this trade. Frye doesn't even play in the playoffs and Shumpert gets benched for whole games at a time. The way I saw it was that Chandler was actually a better fit in the rotation than either Frye or Shumpert.

Frye and maybe Shumpert could easily be moved as salary dumps in an Irving trade, but The Cavs would not be interested in that kind of monetary return, and they will not trade Love without getting a significantly upgraded player, which none of those are.

I wasn't sure how this idea would be received, but it's not surprising that there's not a lot of love.
I do think that McCollum and Melo for Irving and Love is closer than has been figured here, and McCollum is a much better replacement at PG than an Eric Bledsoe return.
Is the thought that the Cavs will simply ignore the trade request?
