Hypothetical: What would "rental" LeBron fetch in a trade?

Post#1 » by HoopsMalone » Tue Aug 29, 2017 1:32 am

There is perhaps no player in NBA history who better singlehandedly guarantees your squad will be a contender than lebron. That said, what would he fetch as a rental if the acquiring team did not believe he was highly likely to re-sign and they were just rolling the dice on one title and an off chance he signs long term if he likes it there

I mean a totally random team like Charlotte becomes a contender with lebron. They'd give up mkg, monk, and 2 1sts right?

Denver give up Murray, hernangomez, 2 1sts?

Would Boston give up tatum, zizic, Brown, rozier, and a host of 1sts?

In an alternative universe where you know he's going to retire with your team you give up everything. But that's not reality. Why would you give up the moon for him and then have nothing left to entice em to stick around?

with the no trade clause and the fact that Lebron is already on a contender ,trade discussions of this sort are worse than Carmelo.
I don't think there is a team in the league that would still be a contender with what they would have to give up to get him to agree to go there, wherever that would be.
I would never trade the GOAT, not sure why anyone would think Gilbert would either,no matter how committed or non committal your superstar is,you don't trade him.

The Sixers traded Wilt the year after he won the MVP averaging 24 points, 24 rebounds and 9 assists. So you have to think anythings possible nowadays... even LeBron waving his no trade.

Isn't LeBron always a rental?

I think any team gives up whatever is wanted besides Warriors, Kawhi, Westbrook, Harden, and AD. There might be a few players I'm forgetting.
