Love won't get moved until after it is known what Lebron does, then sure if Lebron goes West after Loves value goes back up they can utilize that to potentially change the roster up for a younger rookie contract high level player to a team needing a savvy perennial all-star veteran pf.
Right now I think the mindset is that they intend to keep Love regardless of what Lebron does as Loves game although limited is still highly useful with Lebron and will expand to what it was pre-Cavs era Love without him.
This roster was in need of another initiator and although he hasn't proved it yet, Sexton may become that 2nd option where retaining Love makes sense as well.
FYI Cavs just signed former 5 star recruit Preston out of Kansas who has some injury history but could prove to be a long term replacement for Love as well.

NO major surprise really unless he actually does leave. Personally think this is a win for us in retaining him.
If not a s/t is still a possibility as well where CLE could get some kick back

Would've been nice if he committed here for 3 years. Aside from that, I'm fine.

So as long as we don't go into a full rebuild tank , but at the the same time don't make the types of win now moves that only make us a playoff team not a contender where we end up stuck in mediocrity I'm good.
Kind of bummed, considering I really thought his family would be better off here then anywhere else, and I thought he was committed to the team not just the area as it relates to Home, and although LA has cap space they are not loaded with great players or anything and didn't get pg13 etc. I wish he would have given Altman a 1+1 and if it failed left next summer.
Full on tank shouldn't be necessary imo with Osman,Nance,Sexton and possibly Hood all solid foundations worth retaining. But I also want to see us move Hill and Smith at the deadline for draft assets.
What we do with Love will be pretty telling as far as the direction this roster is headed this season.

Why isn't this page more active? All the other teams have new posts every few minutes.

It's going to be interesting to see LBJ in a situation where he's not on a contending team. He's never even lost a first-round playoff series, and right now anyway, that Lakers team is awfully meh. That could all change if Leonard is traded to L.A. But right now, I see a team that could struggle some. It's one thing to say you'll be patient, it's another thing to actually be patient.

Shouldn’t we opt to get more draft picks? The 2014 Cavs pre-LeBron looked pretty good with Irving and Wiggins. Not sure we will luck into so many number 1 picks again though.

Yeah it will be interesting to see what direction we go this season. I think our best bet is to try to pick up some future draft assets from teams that are worse than we are looking to clear cap for next summer, by trading Hill and Smith who will offer teams cap relief going into next summer with only minimal partial guaranteed deals. Tanking being a long drawn out method seems unlikely given we have some nice players now.
As is this roster is still a fringe playoff team in the east, but no where near a contender so something will have to be done if their plan is keep winning even in James absence.
