Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Probably time to bring Love and Sexton back in. Try to shut the door on the come back now.

I hate Love in the corner. Not a huge fan of any big in the corner tbh.

Their youth definitely showing this game at times, but man when they are actually playing within the offense they are looking damn good. Can't wait to see the continued growth. Definitely going to need to get some tickets to a few games this season.

way too soon to think it is sustainable, but the odds just went way up that Beilein has the chops to make what is widely looked at as a mediocre and raw roster able to win enough games to lose the pick.

I think for every one game where we play within the system and run the offense as developed we are likely to have 3 games where we don't, at least for teh early part of the season. By the end of the season I would love to see it to 1 good game for each bad game, which should put us picking right around 8-12th prior to the lotto.

Depends on injuries and front office sabotage but not having the worst of all time defense alone will make a huge difference. Having Love healthy and a PG with actual PG instincts is huge for our offense.

i am not sold the 2020 draft offers enough incentive to worry about the pick if its after 6.
sos...
i mean there are not that many rim protectors that can shoot or 3/4 types that can shoot that are worth a lottery pick . but it is early in the season and scouting process sow who knows

It's early in the process (typically the foreign prospects start to filter in to the mocks later on) and we have to see if the Cavs are still throwing darts at a board, or actually doing a good job evaluating talent these days.
If guys like Porter Jr, Windler, and even Dean Wade look like they might pan out, then I like our chances of digging up talent anywhere in the draft or even out of the draft..
Plus Beilein should be able to do a lot with players who fit well ... and if we can develop talent, fit them in, make them look good ... we develop our trade assets and can actually pursue a star player who might be that final piece rather than hoping something falls in to our lap. Every time we hoped we'd get an additional star ... Boston actually had the players and picks to pull it off if they wanted to. Turns out the picks they were holding weren't all that great and maybe their young players as well ... but perception is 9/10th's of the battle sometimes.

yep, I mean they just turned down Zizic 4th year not surprisingly despite showing flashes last season , but now this move is making him unrestricted next summer so I guess after the likely dl deals of TT or Henson his chance to earn a contract with the Cavs or someone else once he gets over the planter fasciitis will be he last shot.
I like his game, just not sure he is a great fit if he can't run like he was in TC without getting hurt.
I am never a huge fan of intl prospects in the lottery unless they are touted as elite ceiling types like Doncic or KP, I mean I would have taken Sekou this last draft over Darius Garland because his timeline is the same as Sextons and imo his ceiling is higher, but now with who we have and going into the 3rd draft of the rebuild, I would be looking for a proven college player or a obvious dominant one and done in the lottery and there may not be one at positions of need.
most of the lottery is going to be dominated by guards... another reason Sekou or Hayes could have made a ton of sense at 5 considering Garland as good as he sees the floor and how obvious it is he can play, might not have been that much better or even better at all than a prospect like RJ Hampton or Edwards

Well, if you're picking 24 and later because you're trading with playoff teams, you need to fish with a really wide net.
I don't know what the recovery rate is like for players with plantar fasciitis these days, but hard to forget how it wrecked Mark Price's career and Zizic didn't have a good health record to begin with - either out of shape or hurt most of his career it seems.

The only international guy we should even considered based on what I've looked at so far is Deni Avdija. He's a point forward with great defensive potential.
