Chicago radio was reporting that Lebron spent time over the weekend at the Drake Hotel and looking at downtown properties. Having stayed at the Drake myself, that probably doesn't help Chicago's case, completely overrated hotel. I trust the guys who reported this though.

I still think nobody knows, including Lebron.

Whats funny is how everyone on this thread (and others) keep coming up with reasons as to why LBJ is going to stay or go.

His house, family, friends, blah blah blah...

How about we actually listen to what LBJ says.

LBJ has said over and over and over that he wants to win championships PERIOD!

LBJ is going to go to the team that he thinks gives him the best chance to win championships.

Miami, and Chicago are the front runners as of now.... But that can certainly change with all the great FA looking for homes this summer.

In the end, is it better to continuously win 40 games a year and have no hope or aspirations of a championship, or is it better to win 50+ games year-in and year-out, and have a shot? We can debate this all day, everyday, all year, every year (and we have), but the truth is that it is better to have the opportunity and never win a title, than to never have had the opportunity to begin with.

Hey guys I'm a Mavs fan, and no I don't think Lebron will come to Dallas. I was just wondering why you guys would think Lebron would re-sign with the Cavs? I'm not saying he's not, i just wanted to get yalls opinion. You guys have Williams and Jamison, I don't know what it would take to re-sign Lebron, but i just wanted to hear some Cavs fan's opionion.

I'm sure LeBron will stay in Cleveland.
He said that "I got a goal, and its a huge goal, and that's to bring an NBA championship here to Cleveland. And I won't stop until I get it.".
Next year he'll continue his climb to the GOAT(his ceiling) here in Cleveland.

I take the news that Lebron is leaving the decision of whether to fire Brown up to the Cavs as a negative indicator. If he was intent on staying he might take a more active role. If he was seriously considering leaving he wouldn't want to throw a guy under the bus that he wouldn't be playing for either way.

Bosh has the Knicks on his sign & trade wish list. The Knicks move to the top spot if he knows Lebron is going there.

One source said Bosh's decision hinges on where LeBron James signs.

LeBron has always said that he'd leave those decision up to the Cavs braintrust. He's always done that. I'm not saying that he won't leave, but he is clearly doing as he's always done.

Yea those four guys are good, but people in the media saying he would rather go play with Rose and Noah in Chicago (which i doubt would happen because Lebron wouldn't play under Micheal Jordan's shadow).. and the knicks even with Chris Bosh and Lebron James who's the next best player, Lee?? (Free agent, i think), Gallanari?? Eddy Curry?? Chris Duhon?? man looks pretty pathetic to me.. my say is if he does decide to go to New York it will be because of the fame rather than to win, plain and simple.

Unfortunately having an owner who "is willing to do anything in his power" doesn't mean much when we have little to no young talent to use in trades. Expirings don't get you much, basically just players who act as band-aids....band-aids don't make the team appealing, a young core does though.

Zaman is sort of right, which is why I hoped Ferry pulled off a trade for Amare or Iggy at the deadline. He still can make one, but I think our best shot at either was at the deadline.

Either way, we have basically no young talent. My definition of 'young' is essentially any player who isn't old enough to be in his prime yet. With that definition, we only have Hickson, Green, and Boobie. Delonte is borderline, but he's probably going to be shipped off in the off-season no matter where LBJ signs. Even if I loosen the definition of young to include AV and Mo...it's still not that appealing. Granted, Amare is 27 and Iggy just turned 26, which isn't exactly young either, but they're just entering their primes (or about to, in Iggy's case) and they're already an All-Star and borderline AS, respectively.

Our "second option" going forward is a 34(in June) year old who got crushed in the playoffs. Our third option is a guy who doesn't even show up in the playoffs. We have no center. Our starting SG is 35(in June). We have no draft pick.

Being so good in the regular season helped hide those problems with our future, but going out as early as we did, and looking as bad as we did, really put things in perspective.

The Knicks have Gallo, Chandler, Douglas, and Walker as a core. Alone it's pretty bad, but when you combine it with LeBron and Bosh it's a pretty solid core. Not to mention NY will be able to attract good players willing to sign for the MLE because of Bosh/LeBron/the city itself. PLUS they have Curry's expiring.

The Bulls have Noah and Rose, and if they are somehow able to pull off a move that will allow them to sign both LeBron and Bosh, Chicago is much more appealing as well. I don't think they'll be able to make enough room, but they're obviously going to try as hard as they can.

I guess the bottom line is I could see where LeBron is coming from if he left, especially if we can't attract an Amare/Iggy/Gay type player through trade.

The Cavs are almost of in a no win situation. They've had the firepower with huge expiring contracts to acquire a young sidekick similar to what LA did with Gasol but Ferry was never able to land an Iggy/Amare' type. He let Wally's contract expire, Wallace netted us Shaq and Z's expiring landed us another band aid in Jamison. Kaman, Tyson Chandler and Okafor were all available last summer but Ferry decided on Shaq. I believe Iggy and Amare' were at least talked about at the deadline but the Cavs record (for the 2nd year in a row) led them to believe they just needed a tweak when a young sidekick would have given them a better chance to resign LeBron. This is why I never got excited about AJ even though they got him for basically nothing.

This summer Rudy Gay and Joe Johnson could be available in a s&t. LeBron might not resign until the Cavs make another big move. On the other hand it doesn't make sense to trade for a Johnson or Gay type unless LBJ resigns since those are not players/contracts to rebuild around.

Luckily for us we still have the best owner in the NBA. I don't think Dan Gilbert will go down without a fight and I personally don't think the other franchises with cap space are all that attractive on paper unless LeBron just wants his ego stroked in a bigger market.

If LeBron signs elsewhere (I still think he signs another contract in Cleveland), Shaq is renounced, and Delonte's option not picked up, the Cavs could have over 8 mil in cap room and will also have a bunch of expiring contracts in Parker, Moon, and Telfair. I have a feeling they will somehow also acquire a draft pick this year.

Lebron I think to a Sign and trade to LAL. Boston and LAL will be there in the next two to three years.
Defense wins championships not 3 point shooting.
will Miami Dwade, Lebron and Bosh beat these teams. Maybe
But Chicago Rose, Lebron, Deng, Hinrich will get destroyedy by LAL or Boston.

Bottom line is you have to patient or do a sign and trade.

You have to go to a top 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5 team now to win a title in the next 2 to 3 years.

When a team does not play in the NBA finals how do they have a shot at a championship? From Dan Gilbert's view, it would be better to have a losing team that makes him money instead of a contender if they are not going to be winning an NBA title. The real truth is that there is no difference between the 2nd best team and the worst team in professional sports. Often, the worst team is at least in a better position to improve themselves for the future.

In the end, no one cares about the great Utah Jazz, Pheonix Suns, or Dallas Mavericks teams. All anyone remembers is who wins the title. File everyone else under the "not good enough" category.
