Kenny plays a deeper rotation than jb, i mean almost everyone does lol but i still do not envision a lot of minutes for Tyson his rookie season. That is under the assumption the Cavs keep all these 6'5" wings on the roster.

I realize height is your schtick, but Tyson measured in at 6' 5.5" barefoot, meaning he's a good 6' 7" in shoes. He doesn't have the best length with a 6' 8" wingspan, but he has good bulk. A bigger Desmond Bane? Let's hope.

For a Cleveland reference point, he's pretty much Lamar Stevens but about 10 pounds lighter.

Are you talking about their physical attributes only? Lamar is a combo forward who lacks talent, where as Tyson is a SG/SF who can pass, shoot, and put the ball on the deck.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Lamar Stevens?

The Caris Levert comp is fairly legit. Desmond Bane is another fair comp. He can create shots and will take shots.

Stevens couldn’t create at PSU and definitely couldn’t in the NBA. He out bodied college players and plays tough but is wholly complimentary. Very different styles.

Just in terms of height and length.

And, you know, an offensive skill set.

Stevens was nearly Penn State's career leading scorer. He did that on pretty terrible efficiency, but Stevens scored more PPG his junior year than Tyson did.

Of course the guy we did pick is just .25" taller than Knetch at 6'5.5".

Anyway, we have to compromise in multiple areas when picking 20.

KyShawn George would have been an interesting pick in terms of measurables, but it sounds like he's rawer and needs more development.

fwiw, nbadraft.net has Tyson as their 16th best prospect and compares him to Desmond Bane, so, at least it wasn't just the Cavs that saw something in him.

For sure, he's probably 6'7", I'm just saying that 2 inches isn't going to be enough to put him ahead of Strus, Mitchell, Okoro, or LeVert on the wing. Lump in Wade and maybe Merrill, not sure where Tyson carves out minutes, even if Kenny goes 11 deep.

KCP is available as a free agent. Would it even be feasible for us to extend a contract to him?

He'd honestly be the (more expensive probably) Okoro replacement

He just declined a $15 million option, Cavs can only offer part of the MLE if they wanna dodge the tax, I'd say no shot. 76ers or Magic probably overpay him, if not Nuggets bring him back.

Gansey said the Cavs would be aggressive getting back into the 2nd round, no such luck.

With that being the case i see this going a couple ways.

1. Bates is going to nab a standard NBA contract.

2. One of the stash players lands a standard NBA contract.

3. Cavs have a UDFA they're going to give a summer contract and/or camp invite to.

KCP is going to be well out of our price range. I'm not even sure that Denver can engage in a S&T.
I think Okogie around the tax MLE if Okoro gets priced out of comfort zone is more likely.

We're already wasting a roster spot on Brobley. If we waste another one on Bates, I'll be disappointed. He shouldn't get anything until after SL.

Brobley isn't getting a spot on the 15 man roster. He will probably take up a 2way slot again but meh.

I mean we know CPJ and Merrill can at least eat minutes against bottom half the league (same with Niang only he's way overpaid for that). If an undrafted player shows out in SL, I'd want the option of rostering that player instead of Bates. I wouldn't shy away from cycling through the back third of the roster until you find a guy who can push his way into a legitimate backup role. A lot of time and energy already gets allocated trying to develop fringe NBA players in the G League. No need to donate a roster spot on top of it.

I think they at minimum offer Bates the QO, if he wants to accept it and play on it, so be it. It is less than $2 million.

Merrill is non guaranteed, so if Kenny wants to get a look at him the first few months of the season, no harm.

CPJ is a partial guarantee but holding onto him for one more season to see if him or TJ can actually get guard minutes in the rotation is fair.

Cavs roster is pretty much set, if no trades are made.

We'll see what we can get with part of the MLE and see how Okoro's RFA plays out.

Once Mitchell extends, hopefully prior to Sunday afternoon, much of the excitement for the Cavs is over, this off season. Got their coach, navigated the draft, hopefully extend their franchise player, as well as extending Mobley.

Bates looked light years away from being a regular rotation player in the last game of the season.

Not disagreeing and I didn't get to watch that game, but playing him out-of-position as a PG didn't do him any favors.

It is irrelevant. If it is Burns on a non guaranteed or Bates on his QO, neither guy is gonna play much. They're the 14th man or if we actually carry a full roster, the 15th man.

I'd like to see Burns in SL because Wade is good for an injury that will cost him in 20-30 games and Niang should get minimal run against playoff teams. We may need to play one of them.
