3-0 need to close this out on Monday to get our starting back court as much rest as possible before round 2.

Also, was interesting that Spo had Herro/Wiggins try to get the match-up on Hunter over and over.
It did not work lol

Spo says we sold out our defense played a man variant of a box and 1 to neutralize Herro and Bam. Top block was a term they were throwing out. Kenny says we used Dean more so we could switch.
I didn't think we sold out beyond defending up on them knowing we've got help in the paint, our D was pretty good.
Thoughts?

I just read his quote, no, i do not agree with him.JonFromVA wrote:Spo says we sold out our defense played a man variant of a box and 1 to neutralize Herro and Bam. Top block was a term they were throwing out. Kenny says we used Dean more so we could switch.

Cavs aren't selling out to stop Herro or Bam. Cavs are selling out to stop rim pressure and driving lanes, for everyone.
Heat's 3 point % below.
Game 1: 41.9% on 31 attempts
Game 2: 35.6% on 45 attempts
Game 3: 47.1% on 34 attempts
Our game plan is to let them shoot, regardless how well they do it, because it's not leading to Heat wins.

I mean it was the smart thing to do, and ironically, the type of defense the Cavs use to see all the time when JBB was the coach. I'd quibble with Spo in that the box was extended out pretty far towards half court, but we definitely left the corners open a few times.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Garland upgraded to questionable ahead of game 4.

Well, if we can close out Miami, he should get plenty of rest.

#Cavs head coach Kenny Atkinson says “we’ll see” on Darius Garland tonight. Added that he did very little yesterday.
For what it’s worth, I did not see him on the floor after shootaround earlier today. I would be surprised if he plays.

#Cavs guard Darius Garland (left great toe sprain) is out tonight in Game 4 against the Miami Heat.

Sam Merrill still starting. I'd really thought about slotting in Hunter or Jerome instead. I didn't think the starting line-up had enough playmaking

I think it's hard to put TJ in there because Kenny is trying to have Jerome on the floor in all non Mitchell minutes.ijspeelman wrote:Sam Merrill still starting. I'd really thought about slotting in Hunter or Jerome instead. I didn't think the starting line-up had enough playmaking

Just something I didn't expect to see from Hunter. Love it

I think I understand not going w Jerome, but then maybe go Hunter. Or start Ty and allow CPJ some time

I love the confidence Allen is playing with. Could not be happier.
