Just as a rough scenario:

Knicks get: 2019 Memphis pick, Clippers pick from Celtics, JR Smith, Jae Crowder.
Cavs get: Carmelo Anthony, Avery Bradley (or Crowder, or even both).
Celtics get: Kevin Love

Salaries would have to be worked out with filler but Cavs could also get Crowder as 6th man.
Bradley is only 1 year left on deal, but Crowder can start in 2019 if you still keep the band together and Bradley walks.

Gives you 1 or 2 legit seasons/shots at the Warriors with legitimate defensive perimeter upgrades and another dynamite scorer in Anthony.

Celtics get upgrade at major position of need with Love locked up.

Kyrie
Bradley
Melo
Lebron
Thompson

Crowder off bench.

If Celtics got lucky enough to sign Hayward they'd put out:
IT
Brown
Hayward
Love
Horford
With Tatum+Smart+18'Brooklyn pick +18 Lakers pick to come..hoping to take over the East when Cavs break up. (If Lebron did leave in 2 years etc)
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

I don't think Cleveland has the cap room for such a move. Love is 23 mill, while Melo, Bradly/Crowder is 35 or 33 mill. That just isn't going to work unless Frye and Jefferson retire.

That is why the Cavs trading for Melo just isn't going to work. He's both a lower value asset than Love, but has a higher salary. The Cavs would be making their team worse almost no matter what unless Melo rips up his deal and restructures it to allow for another player to be attached.

The only way he ends up on the team is if he's bought out, or if Love gets injured and they want to move him during the season for Melo, and NYK accepts... but I don't think either of those will happen at this point.

I would not trade Love for Melo but if Griffin gets the Knicks job I would certainly try to get him to take TT's bad contract with him to the Knicks for Melo. Throw the Cavs a bone Griffin that is the least you can do.

Tristan Thompson to Orlando for Nikola Vucevic & Garino (throw in and then waived)

Channing Frye & Iman Shumpert to Phoenix for Brandon Knight

I would try Thompson and Shumpert to Denver for Faried and Chandler. See if Denver is dumb enough.

Message to Dan Gilbert - Do NOT trade for Carmelo Anthony. Force the Knicks to buy him out. If Houston does a three-way trade for Melo, so what, he would be in the Western Conference.

Would it look terrible if Griffin's first move is dump Melo for TT and Shumpert? Melo and Hernangomez? What would Cavs options be at center?
Kyrie most of the time when he shoots starts with the ball and then dribbles a while then shoots. -statistical analysis from a 'longtime' Cavs fan (June 2017)

Love would be centre and our offense would be goatish.

A lot of teams are playing small ball but the Cavs can keep Center Edy Tavares on their roster and I think they should also go after Roy Hibbert with a vet minimum contract.

Neither of those trades make the Cavs better.

That is your opinion, obviously not mine. Agree to disagree.

Channing Frye, Iman Shumpert, Richard Jefferson and Kay Felder for Carmelo Anthony?

This is a Melo trade I'd do.

Let's say August 16th, replacing Richard Jefferson with Cedi Osman and adding a 2021 lottery protected first round pick (lotto protection 2021, 2022 and 2023 before becoming two second round picks) gets a deal done, would that hold everything up?

Ah the old switch-and-bait. I like it. I'd give you one of Osman or a future pick but not both.

I think the odds that NY will just cut ties with Melo because he expects to now be traded is understandable, but if neither the Cavs nor the Rockets are offering returns that make NY better why would they do it? They will ride it out until right before the deadline , if all they can get is vets and futures. The offers for Melo are not going to get any worse than they are right now closer to the deadline.

I do not believe the Cavs are going to offer enough to get him, Houston might be willing to part with Gordon instead of Anderson closer to the deadline if Gordon proves to be less needed with CP3 in the fold.add Ariza or Tucker as 1 is expendable with Melo coming in to make salaries match.

Isaiah Thomas, Crowder, Boston's first for Kyrie is the most cle will probably get talent wise. They could also use him to get rid of a couple of bad contracts and try to reload next year but they wouldn't do that until next off season.

Absent LBJ asking for a trade, I cannot foresee a situation where Kyrie is trade to the Celtics this year.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ycr5n7spHere is one heck of a unlikely idea, but all teams could consider this a win
you can pencil in Ntilikina to Phoenix if that's what it takes as well but he can't be moved until 8-4
