How many of those contracts are guaranteed and for how long? I'd probably rather have Marion if he's got a year left on his deal. If the Cavs strike out on Ariza, I could see them considering getting something rather than nothing. The pick might have to be in 2016 though. The Cavs already have three first rounders next year.

Wright $5,000,000 Expiring
Ellington $2,771,340 Expiring
Mekel owed 2 years $1,770,000 Total

Dallas includes $3.3 Million in cash so if you wanted to just waive or stretch waive Mekel the Cavs still pocket $1,530,000 Cash Mekels 5 year cap hit if stretch waived is $354,000

I am fine making it a 2016 Pick

As for the players if Cleveland didn't want them they do the same thing as Dallas and trade their $8,587,000 in salary and take back 150% + $100,000 in Salary $12.9 Million for another player . Or maybe they even add Varejo as part of a bigger deal where they can take back $23.3 Million in salary .

Well at least we're not Detroit!

Would Cav fans do two part deal

Harrison Barnes 3mil M Speights 3 mil TO mil 2015 for cap space
S&T Den to GS 9.8 mil 5 yrs Deng.
Works out to about 55 mil total.
I know you sent 2 1st 2 2nds for Deng.

Speights has to be included to stay under tax apron.

Yes.

But you realize that means you just spent 110 over 2 consecutive seasons for best perimeter defense in the world with your inside relying on Bogut who hasn't been able to stay healthy for years.

But I mean, it's your money.

(out of those 4 picks the most valuable one is heavily protected Kings one that relies on them pretty much making the playoffs within next 2 years, a right for bulls to swap picks in 2015 if our is in 15-30 range, & 2 2nd rounders from Portland in 15 & 16, so unless you're circa 1999 Pop, I'd imagine they're not very appealing)

Deng 6'8 with length can guard most PF who are jump shooters nowadays ,can be a stretch 4.

Deng is likely not signing for $9.8 million a year. He turned down an extension worth $10 million a year before he left Chicago, so his next deal will probably be upwards of $11 million per season.

This.

A S&T that starts at 9.8 comes out 54,000,000 over 5 or 10.8 per season.

I want no part of Speights. He's already played here. That said, if you sent back Iggy instead I'd consider it. I also struggle to understand why you would want Deng and Iggy on the same roster.

Dent has the ability to guard 4 positions and be a stretch 4 .Plus G'S could move Klay Thompson for Love if you had Deng and Iggy.

Moving Deng to the 4 position would be a mistake. He isn't stretching anything on offense.

What is the status on Hawes? Resign him? What about AV?

AV is under contract for one more year. Hawes is going to depend on what type of contract he wants. There is only so much you can pay a stretch five who is a liability on the defensive side of the ball.

Was he really that bad? he had good blk % I am guessing he is slow on the PNr, but I thought he was good as a post defender.

Decent post defender and invisible on help defense or PNR.

Dante Exum is going to be the star of this draft.

#1 for #4 and #12 from the Magic.

Draft Exum and Saric

Trade Waiters for the best available C.

Pair Exum and Irving in the backcourt.

Would Enes Kanter, #5, #23, #35 be enough for you guys to trade the number 1 to the Jazz?
