It's pretty amazing how he's playing given his injury last year and his struggles with injuries a lot this season.

If we don't resign Luol Deng at a reasonable price we should try to trade for Ariza.

We should forget deng and go for Ariza instead IMO.

You're gonna pay Ariza nearly as much if you want to get him away from the Wizards.

Deng isn't a better player so this works

I'd rather have him walk.

But I would consider Kanter, Burke, 5th, and 23rd.

I don't see it, Deng will get $11+ a season, but Aria should be in the $7-8 range.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Be very, very wary of contract year shenanigans. I'm not Deng's BIGGEST fan, since I wanted to trade him in the first place. But he's better than he was for you guys, a lot better.

I think Deng will cost about 11 million a year. As a guess. And Ariza will probably get 8 from Washington. Which means that in order to steal him, you'll probably have to offer at LEAST 9, maybe 10. For nearly equivalent cost, I'd definitely prefer Deng. He's better and more consistent at everything that isn't hitting a 3, and even that skill, Ariza has only been above average the past 2 years. It's unclear whether he'll keep it up, since he's certainly not known to be a deadeye.

If they both demand that much I'm pretty happy to pass on both. What's the alternative? I have no idea.

Giving Hayward $11 or $12. He has upside, and he should do really well next to two creators.

Assuming Kyrie really does want out....

I wonder if Exum gets snatched by the Bucks or Sixers, that would leave the Magic with most likely Parker. Would the Magic take Kyrie+33 for Nelson+4+12? Take Embiid at 1, Parker at 4 and a PG project like LaVine at 12 who would develop behind Jack.

I figure both teams would say no to that.

I like this only if Parker/Wiggins falls to 4.

My theory is that the Magic are probably targeting Exum at 4 to play alongside Oladipo. They're figuring like a lot of us the top 3 is Embiid/Parker/Wiggins in whatever order.

However, Milwaukee would be a good fit potentially with Exum partnered up with Knight in their backcourt, but I don't know if the Bucks are willing to pull the trigger on taking Dante and passing up both Wiggins and Parker. Very risky move because of the raw potential Exum has. Then again, this is the team that took a similar type of prospect in Antetokounmpo last year at 15 when little was known of him other than scouts drooling over his athleticism.

If the draft goes as expected, then I don't see the Magic taking Irving for Exum anyway. They'll take the prospect with the rookie deal over the guy who's due a big contract next summer.
