Pretty easy to accomplish when he has only attempted 14 the entire season lol

Update: After going 0/1 last night, Evan Mobley has dropped below everyone in the regular rotation except Jarrett Allen.

Hey guys!

I had a new years resolution to commit to creating "long"-form youtube videos. This is my first one on Sam Merrill and would love if you guys could check it out and give me any feedback. Much appreciated.

Pretty brilliant I guess because I don't even have a nitpick for you.

And whether you meant to, or not, you kind of painted the road for Emoni who could easily become a 6'10" version of Merrill by embracing how important the little things are going to be for him to add to his game in addition to his quick trigger / lights out shooting.

Of course, Emoni could potentially develop in to a lot more, but considering Kyle Korver earned $82M in the NBA, becoming a top movement shooter that isn't unplayable on defense is hardly a bad outcome.

Good job on the video man! I can't imagine how deadly the Cavs would be if Strus had Merrill's efficiency.

And Allen has only attempted 1 all season.

When i saw he only played 13 minutes, it reminded me of Waiters getting pulled before the tip at Philly then we got Shump, JR, and the picks to get Mozgod.

I guess bring on Bobby Portis and Pat Conny-ton lmao

Edit: or maybe Royce and Lonnie Walker

That article: he sat the second half because we have depth and JBB wanted more spacing. The players and JBB are happy with what they have.

I mean, he wanted spacing so badly against the Knicks that he played Danny Green over Lamar Stevens as the backup 4...

Yeah, ok, it's just a shame he didn't want spacing enough to dust off Sam Merrill, promise Kevin Love that he'd find him playtime as soon as finger healed, or even just gamble on Dean who was supposed to take over Kevin's role but was still struggling with his shoulder.

Yeah, ok, it's just a shame he didn't want spacing enough to dust off Sam Merrill, promise Kevin Love that he'd find him playtime as soon as finger healed, or even just gamble on Dean who was supposed to take over Kevin's role but was still struggling with his shoulder.

Dean got late-season minutes as an attempt to ramp him up. They weren't terrible but they also weren't great. He played 11 minutes and took 1 shot, while not looking nearly as good on defense as he has this year.

Merrill only got garbage time minutes but he actually shot pretty badly at the NBA level last year. You can argue he should've gotten more minutes in March and April, but he was a deserved afterthought and no one was making that argument at the time.

Love shot around 30% in the rest of the regular season in Miami and only re-discovered his shot in the playoffs. If we'd have given him another chance late in the regular season he likely would've failed it.

I just hope JBB learned something from the Love fiasco, you know, like don't drop someone from the rotation until you know you've got someone ready to replace him. Maybe go find minutes for a Sam Merrill to see what you've got and then and get him ready to contribute. If there's a chance your entire season is going to come down to how well Cedi Osman and Danny Green are going to play out of position, maybe try them that way first?

Watching CPJ barely play and Emoni Bates and IMobley not even get in during garbage time, I'm not optimistic.

He thought he had Wade, but his shot didn't come back. He thought he had Stevens, and played him awhile, but at a certain point it became clear he brought neither shooting nor rebounding as a 4 and teams would punish them.

Love shot 30% from the field, 23% from three in the 12 games he played in January of last year before being benched. Love might not have been totally done, but he certainly earned the benching in favor of trying anyone/everyone else. Let's not pretend he and Rubio weren't torpedoing games for us there.

Oh, I remember exactly how awful Love was, and it was past due to take him aside and tell him we were going to try some other options while his finger healed. Somehow JBB bungled it and left Kevin thinking he was just out of the rotation for good rather than making sure he knew he was a valued veteran we wanted to try to get back on track for the playoffs.

The Strus and Niang numbers are crazy.

Strus before Cleveland was a 47.5% corner shooter!

Niang before Cleveland was a 43.1% corner shooter!

Sometimes it swings that way tho and I think for some of our guys its swinging in our favor

Yup, those were the 2 that stuck out to me too.
