I bleed Piston blue, but I don't take things so seriously that other teams and fans are the enemy.

He's probably just saying that to not get booed everywhere he goes. Gilbert is a rich man and doesn't need Lebron to stay afloat. Unless he sells the team, I don't see him allowing Lebron to come back. In fact, if Lebron has any interest, I say Gilbert has a special on ESPN called "The Decision" and announce if he'll go down to South Beach and bring Lebron back.

Lebron is referring to high school sports growing up, Akron and Canton teams generally dislike Cleveland high school teams and players. This isn't just an Akron thing, the West Side teams and East Side teams of Cleveland hate each other too, rivalry's are intense in Cleveland sports, Apparently a part of Lebron never got over that.

I think Lebron had a love/hate relationship with Cleveland. For many years with Lebron the Cavs had great chemistry and team camaraderie as well as a great deal of respect from the city and the media. He will probably never experience that again in his professional career and will begin to miss his days in Cleveland. I predicted that Lebron would have major regrets about his decision, and with this GQ interview we are already seeing signs of that.

Wade I would have still liked but he showed that he's a fraud. His "interest in playing for the Bulls" was complete BS as Chris Bosh admitted that this has been planned for quite a while. How could you be 100% sure when you're absolutely wrong? My favorite player is Kobe and I have always disliked Lebron. I wanted Wade and Rose to be the two Chicago kids who bring the Bulls back to glory but he's a phony and therfore I'm glad Rose is still our franchise player and have no jealousy towards the Heat in any way for having the 3 stooges. In fact, I can't wait to see Kobe win his 6th and put Lebron in misery for being such a coward.

Apparently the Sun-Sentinel article didn't include this part of the GQ Interview:

James told GQ: "I understand that a lot of people would be hurt" in Cleveland by his decision, but also said that growing up, he and his friends from Akron didn't always like Cleveland. Akron is about 40 miles south of Cleveland.

"It's not far, but it is far," James told GQ. "And Clevelanders, because they were the bigger-city kids when we were growing up, looked down on us. ... So we didn't actually like Cleveland. We hated Cleveland growing up. There's a lot of people in Cleveland we still hate to this day."

And he said Cleveland fans were "awesome," but didn't take back his comment late last season that those around him were "spoiled" by his play.

Why is he still doing media? Every time he opens his mouth he looks worse than before. He needs to go in hiding until the season starts so he can talk basketball and only basketball.

As for a return to Cleveland, the thought crossed my mind but, it seems less than genuine when he chooses to trash Gilbert again.

I never even considered such a thing. I'm not from Cleveland city proper, but it never occured to me to hate the city.
I don't even hate Pittsburgh...sure the Steelers, and some fans, but the whole city?

Who knows how good LeBron will be in 5 years (e.g. Tracy McGrady, Grant Hill), but it would all depend on if the Cavs felt he could help out. Although LeBron exited poorly (understated of course) from Cleveland, a good GM and owner will always look to improve the roster.

James has really been his own worst enemy throughout the whole process. If he said that in the next 5 years, the chance to play in Miami is too good to pass up then I would have respected that as long as he was straightforward and graceful in his exit. If I was in James's shoes, I probably would have stayed because I love Cleveland, but I don't blame anyone for leaving. That he quit last year against Orlando and in the playoffs against Boston is inexcusable. The "Decision" was in poor taste and showed little respect for a city that stood behind him for seven years. It is such a shame because all his criticism is self-inflicted by his incompetent "team."

I still believe that Gilbert will get this thing turned around quickly. If in 5 years James wants to come back and it will be beneficial for the Cavs as they are constituted, the Cavs would be negligent to not sign James. Still, I have no illusion that the Cavs would need a closer on the roster because we saw that James is not the competitor, but an awfully good sidekick.

Bold prediction here: Lebron will never play for the cavs as long as gilbert is the owner, and i do not see that changing anytime before lebron is done playing, so therefore he will never play for the cavs again and i think that is fine for alot of people. Afterall, we won nothing with him, so winning nothing without him is no different. I hope for a guy who bashes this team and his city, better never ever,ever,ever, have his number retired and hung from that arena no matter who the owner is in the future.

Gilbert is fiery, emotional, and very passionate, but he is also a calculated business man. This was shown by his impassioned letter and rhetoric prior that the organization would not trade LeBron James. Once the dust settled, Gilbert realized he would be a fool to not get some assets for James. I have no doubt that if Gilbert felt James would improve the team, he would take him. As I stated before, the caveat would be that James would not be the "guy," playing a sidekick role to a star. Still, James will never receive the same adulation and affection that he received prior to his tactless exit from Cleveland. As for Gilbert and James's relationship, there would no longer be special fringe benefits and private jet rides. It would strictly be a business relationship.
