Kobe/Shaq situation. Lakers took the younger, it worked out. Maybe LeBron trade is the better call, whether it's likely to happen or not is another matter.

Irving should get a nice return though if they are smart about it.
my first thought was straight up for John Wall.
higher # of players in return might be found sending him to Phoenix for Bledsoe, Bender, Warren.
sending him to the Spurs for Green & Murray ( they won't trade Leo).
sending him to Boston for Isaiah , Brown & Smart.
sending him to the Timber wolves for Wiggins & Dieng.
sending him & Frye to New Orleans for Davis although unlikely would be my favorite move if the Pelicans are content with Boogie.
sending him to Denver for Chandler,Harris,Mudiay & Hernangomez. ( they are not trading Jokic)
sending him to the Bucks for Brogdan,Delly,Henson or Delly, Jabari & Maker.
lesser desirable returns but still solid:
sending him to Charlotte for Kemba & Lamb + a draft pick
sending him to detroit for Jackson Johnson & a draft pick.
sending him to NY,or Miami 2 of his preferred destinations don't offer much in return unless you want Dragic or can pry away KP.
sending him to SA or MIN his other 2 preferred destinations are more likely , but who cares what he wants.
I am not in shocked by this, but disappointed and believe he will likely regret the decision.

Wow. You are REALLY overrating kyrie. Most of these proposed deals are ludicrous and there's no way teams would give up these packages for a PG who can't defend or pass...

Aren't you guys better with Bledsoe and Melo sans Kyrie? Most Suns fans do not want Kyrie, however, we'd like to get possibly French Frank and pick for Bledsoe and trade some contracts to make the money work, what do you guys think?

Kyrie to NYK
Melo to Cleveland
Frank and picks to us?

Edit: Bledsoe to Cleveland too

If you read the thread youll note I didn't see the "or" he used in those trade proposals. I thought he was implying teams should trade half their roster for kyrie.

I guess the implosion has you guys a little sensitive and I get that. I'm not here to stir anything up I love LeBron and I'm one of those knowledgeable fans who recognize that he's clearly superior to Jordan.

I actually think kyrie asking for a trade is good for the Cavs. LeBron is leaving regardless and you guys are going nowhere fast with kyrie. Hes got a ton of trade value. He has Much more value as a trade chip than he does as a player because of his marketability.

We'd probably be better but we also had the same deal on the table but it was Paul George and Bledsoe and we stupidly denied it so it's pretty disappointing to now downgrade to melo

If you guys are trading Irving I can't see a better trade than Anthony and Bledsoe.

So then its a matter of NY and Phoenix agreeing to Ntilikina's value.

Not happening. Melo not waving his no-trade clause to go to Cavs, he's holding out for Rockets. Melo does not want to be left holding the bag in Cleveland in 2019. No Lebron and no Kyrie.

I wonder if the Celtics are interested? They have the pieces and/or picks to make it work.

Cavs can just sit back and wait for three months. They're already getting calls from teams like the Bucks. I'd take Middleton straight up over most of what's been offered so far. Kyrie doesn't have a NTC. He's under contract for two more years. His list is irrelevant.

Defending and passing aren't skills promoted in the NBA in todays game and they only become important around the conference finals. Theres a lot of season to fill up until then.

I agree with you that Kyrie is over rated and a team led by him won't be successful but he's absolutely as good as it gets offensively. Scoring title good. That sells and teams will buy. I preferred trading him over Love anyways because Cavs have little size and he'd get more in return. I just wish he'd said this sooner. There's no deal for him now, so he'd stay put. We could have had Chris Paul and George.

For the Cavs to take Melon and Bledsoe and give Kyrie, Cavs would have to give out Thompson and Shumpert too.
Who's taking those contracts? Phoenix or NY? No one. This is why we haven't changed the roster already. Griff went too long on these contracts and now were stuck with players. He should've paid them more over a shorter term to keep flexibility.

Does Kyrie know something? Why now? If LeBron leaves next year it would be his team. Does he believe LeBron is staying or does he have no patience at all and not value another almost guaranteed shot at a title?
GS isn't infallible. One injury and Cavs are favorites to win. The more I hear from Kyrie the less I like him. It seems like he's never cared about anything but himself. He has benefitted from LeBron being here tremendously in exposure. Wasn't that long ago players around the league thought he hadn't earned his status. Is Dirk the last NBA player to play with one franchise? That's not helping the brand imo.

I'd rather had Jimmy Butler over everyone. But

Cavs aren't concerned about age. We made that choice when we got Love. When we got LeBron really. With LeBron its always about the next couple of seasons only. You know you'll be decimated when he's gone and worry about that then. While you have him you try to win titles.

Like others here. I think we stay put.. til the trade deadline at least.
Next year could be crazy as ever though.

Kyrie has bad timing. He'll probably deny he asked this by tomorrow.

Love has become SERIOUSLY underrated.

Hes a terrific offensive player, great rebounder, very good passer, gives you premium spacing, and he's a relatively solid defender.

For some reason the narrative is that he can't play defense. It's absolutely not true.

The issue is that he is not able to play center because he's a poor rim protector. So you cant really go small with him and put LeBron at PF where he's most effective and really needs to play as he ages. He's starting to become very turnover prone at the 3, he needs to go up against bigger mismatches.

The issue is love cant guard Durant when the warriors go small. And the warriors are the only team in the league Cleveland isn't favored against. Therefore love is considered a poor defender? If that's the case 98% of the guys in the league are poor defenders.

People are going to want kyrie in a trade whereas they all passed on Love. When love is clearly the superior player. The league is awash in point guards. Not too many guys out there offer what love does.
