Heard Dan Gilbert is having private meetings with Chris Grant, Byron Scott and other staffers on how they could blow the 4th pick in the draft.

honestly Dan Gilbert...just call me. I'll do the hard work of not picking undersized tweeners over obvious blue chip prospects at the early to mid lottery slot your team is gonna be stuck in like forever.

not a Cavs fan but I sympathize.

Even as a Syracuse fan, I think Waiters was a bad pick. Just too high for him at #4, and not just because of the "6th man" argument. He was asked to play there, and he did. He could have started on almost any other team.

No, it's true. There are a couple of people starting to get upset about his recent summer league play, but most people were pretty thrilled with him after the draft once they researched him (and we have like a 1,000 post thread on him there). Plus no one wanted the players available after Beal and MKG. There were a lot of Barnes haters there for example who wanted anyone but him.

imo i think wiaters is going to be a steal....he has nice handles and can get to the rim at anytime and split defenders has good court vision those are traits you cant teach in the nba...yea hes a lil undersized but hes built even tho hes a little bit overweight and he still managed to split and get to the rim at ease i know is sml but come on hes showing promise...i may be a homer but i like this pick and i wont be surprise if everybody healthy the cavs can be in the playoff hunt... :P

You seem very bias. But he does has a chance to be very good or a good six man type of player.

So we look at a handful of Summer League games where he played injured and out of shape and we determine that he'll be a bust???

Can we at least give it a year before we start jumping down Chris Grant's throat smh.

Kyrie didnt have that great of a first game last season, but he turned out alright. I'll give Waiters some time, especially playing alongside Kyrie, before I judge him.

an awful first game and just about every subsequent game against Calderon. I say no more about Waiters till I see him play. Everything else is just so much mental masturbation.

It is strange how one of the worst defensive PG = bad game for Kyrie.

Must be a Bobcats/Lakers thing.

For the record: Even though I have made it known that I am not a fan of the Waiters pick at #4, I will still root for him and hope he succeeds. I hope I am proven wrong. :D

Sports are changing guys. The teams run by guys who understand statistical and economic analysis and strategy are the ones succeeding in all 4 major sports. We are one of the those teams. Its not like the 70s where you take the big name and call it a day.

I can tell you for a certainty that Lillard was Portland's #1 priority. There were so many reports that the Blazers wanted him that it really wasn't a surprise when he was selected.

I'd assume if Sacramento took lilliard then Portland would look hard at waiters. I don't know the validity of Sacramento taking him though.

So apparently Dion Waiters twisted up his ankle pretty bad a couple weeks into nba predraft workouts with teams. Since he already had received a promise from someone in the lottery his agent advised him to shutdown workouts to rest up since there was no where for his stock to go but up since he had a promise. Fast Forward to NBA summer leaugue and you have a rusty and semi out of shape Dion Waiters. He didnt play his best basketball and his rust and lack of cardio showed. After his below average performance in summer league it seems as though there are a growing percentage of cavs and non cavs fans who seem worried that we wasted the pick on an undersized tweener who will be lucky to be on marcus thorntons level... Ok with all that said let me get to my point. In NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM should this kid be evaluated based on this bs summer league performance. It is a FACT that he came in to his initial predraft workouts in tip top shape and looked explosive enough to grab a promise early from someone in the lottery(not us). It is FACT that we had him rated number 3 on our big board after Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist. When i look back on his career at syracuse and review his highlights i see that he is not just an explosive athlete, but an explosively strong athlete. He is not as fast as D-Wade but he isnt too far behind. Im not saying this kids gonna be a superstar but i am saying that he has shown that potential and i see why we took him at 4. We all should calm down and wait for the season to start and hopefully he proves all the haters wrong.
