Why would Cleveland spend all the money it would take to sign a B-level player like Iggy? What point does that serve?

If you are saying we would have to overpay to get Iggy, I would tend to agree, but we are going to have to overpay just about anybody to come here at this point. I want to see this team move forward, another year of tanking, and then hoping for the ping pong balls to bounce right isn't high on my list of things to look forward to. If they don't, then what? We would have wasted another year. Our young guys still wouldn't have really played any meaningful (read Playoff) games and we would right where we are now.
Now, if he demands max type money, of course I wouldn't be down with that, but I doubt that would be the case. Maybe a 3 or 4 year deal would allow the team to draft and groom his eventual replacement while he would still be productive.
I know there other possible ways to go, but this way we don't end up trading our future picks, we just use some of the capspace that we currently have. As for 2014, I just am not buying into the pipe dream of some people that Lebron is just waiting to come back and fulfill his "promise" of bringing a title to Cleveland. I may be wrong, but it is just as likely that pigs will sprout wings and fly imo.

:-? ....so you're saying there's a chance!

I think IF he decides to make amends that he's not going to let the money stay in his way. Besides they can afford they'd still have flexibility with Andy's contract to afford both.

According to this article Waiters is bad defensive player:
http://www.fearthesword.com/2013/6/13/4417764/the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly-dion-waiters-season-in-review

That's why Iggy should be considered as option at SF. Otto Porter seems to be safe bet as well.

BTW read an article about Len, he is described as injure prone, unathletic C...

ummmmmm......you win.

Although, in fairness I didn't say a 'c' level player wouldn't get 'a' level money, lol.

I would still prefer to sign Deng next summer as opposed to signing Iguodala now.

Unless they amnesty Boozer or salary dump Gibson, they will be looking at the luxury tax after resigning Deng and filling out the remainder of their roster.

Yeh true i didnt take money into consideration. But besides Noah and Rose hes the guy you keep on your squad. I think they make room for him somehow at someone else's expense.

Cavs trade their 1st Round Pick (1st overall) + 2nd Round Pick (33 overall) + Alonzo Gee

Wolves trade their 1st Round Pick (9th overall) + 1st Round Pick (26th overall) + Derrick Williams + Alexey Shved

Cleveland

PG: Irving/Shved
SG: Waiters/#19 Tim Hardaway or Jamal Franklin
SF: Williams/ #26 Karasev or Reggie Bullock
PF: Thompson/#9 Cody Zeller or Steven Adams or Gourgi Dieng
C: Varejao/Zeller

Minnesota

PG: Rubio/Ridnour
SG: #1 Oladipo/JJ Barea/#33 Tony Snell or Nate Wolters
SF: AK47?/Buddinger/Gee
PF: Love/Cunningham
C: Pekovich/Stiemsma

No Thanks!

Derrick Williams has little to no value to the Cavs and Alexey Shved would get a pick in the 20's of the first round. Alonzo Gee can contribute at least as much as Alexey Shved right now. For that package, the Wolves would have to find another team that values Williams as highly as some Wolve fans apparently do.

The Cavs front office went after Shved pretty hard last year.

If the Cavs took Porter at #1 do you think that is of greater value >>>>>>>> Williams + Shved + 9th + 26th?

I think its very close. Gee would not be of much value for the Cavs if Porter gets selected anyways.

Idea that's gaining traction on the MN board is #9, #26, D-will, and Shved for #1 and Varajao. Some of their posters are debating wether givng us Shved represents too much value though

I disagree. Returning Gee to a bench roll is ideal. Having a big, athletic perimeter defender, when he will finally have a defensive minded coach, will be a good thing.

Not as close as the Wolves board thinks.

Williams = almost zero value
Shved = does good in limited minutes, but Gee can do that
Cavs have 2 of the first 3 picks in the second round which makes the 26th of very limited value to them.

Unless the Cavs trade down slightly, they will be picking Noel... IMO. The Cavs need a rim protector which I think means, if they trade down they take Len. Giving up the 1st pick to drop down to number 9 and get marginal players like Shved and Williams isn't in the cards here.
