Cant see why the Thunder would want to do that, but we say yes immediately.

I was thinking the same thing... Delonte for Beasley but more because Beasley has more value and would be better for a trade later on. But if they were looking at a Beasley for Dooling... Delonte has to be 10x better.

Phoenix fans need to realize that they will not be getting a lot of value from an Amare S&T, especially if they are looking to unload Barbosa's contract as well. Something like this makes more sense to me, but I still see little reason for OKC to facilitate a Bosh to Cleveland trade.

That is a dangerous move though. For the same reason why NJ turned it down, why would Cleveland help Miami clear up more cap space?

Agreed, Miami would have a boatload of available cap space. Plus, Beasley is a head case along the lines of Delonte West, without the mobile armory of course.

SnT for Chris Bosh?

Post#67 » by LascelleL » Sat Jun 5, 2010 6:48 am

Its no secret that out here in Toronto Chris Bosh is leaving to go to a contender. And I firmly believe that the best player he fits with is LeBron. So I ask you this. Would Cleveland be willing to give up Mo Williams, Delonte West and Antwan Jamison for Chris Bosh? The numbers work out and this also gives Toronto some much needed Cap space to work with.

Question is would you guys do that>?

Cavaliers have an ace... one that's been overlooked BIG-TIME

Post#68 » by heathmalc » Sat Jun 5, 2010 7:19 am

The Cavaliers Dan Gilbert plans to make a splash. He is planning on that splash getting all-over all the teams with a lot of money to spend.

The question that is being asked, is HOW?

Well, we do have an EXTREMELY large contract, that is set to expire in about three weeks. That contract, would be none other than Mr. Shaquille O'Neal. Shaq's contract is set to expire on June 30th. It is currently worth $21,000,000.

On June 26th, 2009 the Cavaliers traded Ben Wallace's contract (which only had 3 days left on it), and Sasha palovic for Shaq. It appears as though Mr. Gilbert is looking at making a similar trade this summer... before June 30th.

An example of a trade that the Cavaliers could make, that would make the receiving team save a TON of money, is:

Shaq, Varejao and Hickson + future 1st ... for Bosh & Hedo turkoglu.

Shaq would be free to resign with the Cavaliers July 8th (after moratorium).

Why for Cavs: Toronto gets two good young PF's that combined don't make as much as Hedo... they get a 1st round pick... AND they shave 18 MILLION off THIS summer's salary cap... allowing them to sign a free-agent for up to 7.5 million & STILL be under the cap!!!

There are other teams and scenarios. Like the suspected California team we are talking to about acquiring a lottery pick from.

We could trade Shaq for Baron Davis, Chris Kaman, and the #8 pick in the draft.

Clippers add 21 million to the 25 million they currently have available this summer, giving them by FAR the most money to spend of any team with cap space.

Just something for everyone to chew on while all these rumors fly around about what Dan Gilbert is planning. Just keep in mind... the Cavaliers are a LOT more flexible than a lot of people are giving them credit for. There is a TON of things they can do... even after July 1st. But the Shaq-thing... that was one that I thought fans should be aware of.

Wouldn't hesitate to say yes. The Raptors won't even touch that however.

They'd still say no.

Hell, if it only took Mo, Jamison, and West I'd throw in a S&T'd Wally for Hedo as well.

Money wouldn't work. But, we'd still do this trade, which would work:

West, Antawn, Mo Williams, rights to Eyenga, and two future 1st round picks for Bosh & Jose Calderon
We'd even throw Hickson into the trade too.

I don't think it's really that close, but if you think it's close that's fine.

FWIW - Windy was on the radio yesterday and said we are looking to make a big splash BEFORE the draft, we are looking to get into the lottery, and deals that would put us in the lottery are currently being discussed with teams from the state of California.

I guess we might revisit the Maggs talks with GS and try to get #6...though I'm not really sure why. We need a bigger move than that IMO. SAC isn't a great trading partner and LAC doesn't have anything we need other than Kaman. Kaman was easily attainable a year or two ago, but his value is higher now. I'm not getting my hopes up for a big move but I hope the next few weeks leading up to the draft are at least exciting :)

As an outside poster, what exactly does Cleveland have to entice potential mid lotto teams like GSW and Sac to part with their 1st rounders? Cleveland doesn't have a pick to trade. Jamison, Varajeo, Gibson, and Mo Williams are all signed to longterm contracts. Only Varajeo has any semblence of value to other teams.

The West contract is a good trading chip, but what is stopping teams with major cap room now (like Washington, Sac, etc) from using it to potentially acquire a pick in exchange for taking a toxic contract back? They'd give nothing back to those teams, rather than the crappy expirings you;d give.
