Hopefully, it signals that he's going to sign a multi-year dea that starts below his QO (with max raises) so we can sign a big without going into the tax this season. I have to imagine that the Cavs have checked the market on Niang and it's cost prohibitive to get off his salary.

Keep in mind this Summer was all about circling the wagons around Mitchell, and Niang was one of the guys he wants on the team.
Niang might not be going anywhere regardless of his lack of trade value.

The fact Cedi and Stevens are out of the league is very telling.jbk1234 wrote:Sounds like Cedi is heading back to Europe. While I understand the financial constraints, I have a difficult time seeing Travers providing more useful minutes than he would've.

Spurs fans seem non-plussed they didn't at least offer Cedi a vet-minimum roster spot, but perhaps they did and there's more money in Europe.

Cavs announce the full coaching staff, looks like they pretty much cleaned house.
PS crazy to think that the Cavs media day is at the end of this month.

Reinking and Gerrity are organizational guys, so, makes sense they survived the great purge.
Would be interesting if they made any changes to the training staff or if they're just going to chalk up any problems there to the head coach not listening to the training staff....

Stephen Spiro has been with the Cavs for 14 years, so I doubt it.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:https://www.cleveland.com/cavs/2024/09/cavs-announce-complete-2024-25-coaching-staff.html?outputType=amp

I guess every September we're just gonna sign this guy lol
Let's try it without PEDs this time, hahaha
In all seriousness, that is very underwhelming that he is the most we could muster as a back-up 5, again. The roster is pretty much set at this point, just gotta figure out what deal Okoro is going to play under.

Or maybe he's got the good stuff, now?
I still blame the Kardashians for killing his career. I think he had to work really hard to be as good as he was and when he started to become a reality star with all the drama that went with it, he lost the edge he needed.

I am okay with it. He gave reliable back-up big minutes (even after the suspension). Obviously, as fans we want more bc there a plethora of back-up bigs out there on the trade market.
I know he retired, but I would have loved Muscala in that role. Would have also been open to a Drummond reunion lol, but honestly outside of those guys... none of the FA's (for the price we wanted) impressed me

Idk what anyone knows about Jules Bernard but the Charge just acquired his G league rights, so maybe he shows up in camp.

His AAV is $12.66 million. Hopefully the Cavs cap experts are able to figure out how to manipulate the cap enough for his year 1 salary.toooskies wrote:ijspeelman wrote:

Isaac Okoro hasn't accepted he can't improve his game at 23:

I mean he shouldn't *accept* that. It's just that it's the job of the front office to be clear-eyed about what happened in March and the playoffs when we played with a single big and down our leading scorer (as well as Strus/LeVert).

If our leading scorer as well as our next two scoring wings off the bench are all hurt, you simply don't have an expectation to be able to win in the playoffs. In the rare cases that you might, that's when stars emerge. That's like Luka's-hurt-but-here-comes-Brunson stuff. (Okay, sometimes it's Caleb Martin having four of his eight best career games in a period of three weeks in 2022.)
As for staying afloat in the regular season, that's some of the logic behind drafting Jaylon Tyson.
