Personally, I wouldn't have any interest in DeRozan, he's overpaid and absolutely not the type of player that we've been looking for at the 3 (he can't shoot).

Toronto could use a young PF like Thompson - plus he's from Toronto... could be a good story.

If we miss out on a bunch of free agents in 2014 - then I could see a Varejao for DeRozan swap

Trade idea that I think makes us a dangerous playoff team and better off going forward with cap and assets:

Cavs get: Deng + Biyombo
Bulls get: Henderson(S&T) + Varejao
Bobcats get: Gee + Miles + Kings 1st from Cavs + Bulls 2014.

Team that says no is probably Bobcats, but can add more picks or swap Miles for Karasev. Also, according to reports, they can't get deal done with Henderson and are looking for S&T.
For Bulls, Henderson could replace Deng's scoring and let Butler take over at SF. Also, gives them another big they reportedly wanted.
For Cavs, I know hurts to trade Varejao, especially to Bulls, but lets Cavs develop new additions, Biyombo and Bennett, and continue to develop Thompson and Zeller. If Bynum is healthy for playoffs, great. If not, still have viable rotation and don't have to worry about Bynum and Varejao both being hurt.

What do you guys think?

I heard the Bulls are locking up Deng to an extension. With Rose coming back - no way they trade him.

Anyone listen to ESPN 850 this morning? I caught the end of Rizzo stating that the Cavs were sitting on a trade involving Andy - but could not disclose who it was for

Apparently he said it was Asik, but Im just going to assume he was trying to get ratings. He's pretty known for that, and has never broken any Cavalier news.

I actually like this as a bobcats fan. Lets be real nobody is getting that pick from sac so another 1st would have to be added.
What would it take for Tristian? Zeller for Tristian?

top 12 protection in 2014
top 10 protection from 2015-2017

Saying no one will see the pick is not a valid statement at this point in time, and the pick may actually hold more value than most currently think.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

No reason to think that Deng will be traded. Bulls go all in this year.

I don't think Jerry Reinsdorf ever goes all-in. He didn't even want to do it with Jordan/Pippen/Rodman, pre-salary cap. He's a CPA and a tax attorney; it's all about the money. If he trades Deng, he's either getting long-term assets or shedding salary. Even from a competitive standpoint, this isn't the year to go all-in: you want to see if the Miami superteam will break up, and you want the Nets to be a year older, and you want Rose to put another year between his ACL injury and playing. It seems like a dumb move to be "all in". But Henderson/Varejao may have more upside than Deng, so that's a dual now AND future improvement.

But for the Cavs, I don't like getting Biyombo back; we have too many true PFs on the roster already. I'd rather see him flipped for a true C; would Philly take Biyombo and a Cavs 2nd rounder and give up Hawes?

Anderson Varejo
Earl Clark (can be traded after Dec. 15th)
Future 1st in 2015 - Cavs Pick

-For-

Luol Deng

The Bulls are just seeing what Deng's agents want in a contract. I don't see him being their long-term. He would have to agree to any sign and trade, so that's really unlikely he'd agree to go to Cleveland. But if Chicago signs him to a deal this summer they can trade him with new deal in place anywhere they want after Dec. 15th.

I cant see the Cavs having any interest in a trade like that at this point. For better or worse, we're keeping our cap space open for next season.

Pistons fan.

I think the one young guy on your team you should never think about trading is TT. Bennett and Waiters could be expendable, although they are very talented, in a trade package for a guy or guys who fit better with Kyrie - I can foresee that making sense, but right now, If I'm you guys, I'm standing pat to see how your young guys fit together. But TT is (based on what I've seen) a guy who can be a monster rebounder and complimentary offensive player and fine defender at the PF position. Those guys don't grow on trees, and to play against teams like Indiana, Memphis, and the Pistons with their dominant front court players, you need the TT's of the world.

Unless a deal blows you out of the water and fits into your long term salary structure plan, just wait until next summer. Good grief, on your team, if LeBron did want to return, you'd have great deal of young attractive assets and draft picks to make a sign and trade deal. And you can use this season to figure out who blends with whom and the main guy to blend with is your superstar PG.

It's not like you are winning the championship this season, anyway.

Thanks for the input. I am one Cavs fan who completely agrees. I'm probably the driver on the TT bandwagon. His work ethic, great personality, noticeable month to month improvements along with his current skills... I legitimately think he can be a 20/11 guy someday.... I don't dare speak that outside of the Cavs board but I am much higher on him than Waiters, Bennett, Zeller.

Side note - I have always been a believer than Drummond will be DOMINANT in the future. Watching him in summer league this year solidified that belief. Great pick.

Evan Turner and Pelican 1st top 5 protected for Anthony Bennent

Cavs get a legit young all around smallforward and former Ohio State buckeye. Plus a nice 1st round pick in a deep draft.

Seems pretty poor. Turner needs the ball in his hands to be effective, and, well, he'd never have that chance in Cleveland with Kyrie, Dion, and Jarrett all being the primary ball handlers if they're on the court. It's a position to fail for Turner. Just because he's a SF size doesn't mean he's a SF. His poor shooting all over the court makes him a very poor option to play off the ball like he would have to in Cleveland.

After that, unless the Cavs really just don't like Bennett, here's no reason to trade for a 10-14-ish 1st for Bennett.

Yea what a terrible deao for us. A borderline all star sf for a guy who wont play much behind tristan and a few picks that we might never see...
