I just liked the actions but Mitchell and Garland could play off Mobley so well if they ran stuff like that. They would obviously have to go get a Lyles/Barnes type but they should probably do that anyway.afarmenian wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:Man, if Mobley could play like Sabonias in offense, we could trade Allen. Its funny i was literally about to comment on how the Warriors are defending Sabonis. He looks like a liability out there and is infinitely more skilled than Allen and he is playing next to 4 shooters at all times. The Allen Mobley pairing has to go, the cavs will be handicapped on offense until it does.

It was annoyingto watch the Heat intentionally go small against the Knicks, making Robinson chase guards.

Well, that's what having a competent head coach and GM allows. Heat are missing Herro and Dipo and can still run out James "Himmy" Butler, Strus, Jimmy Neutron, Lowry, Vincent, Martin, and they even freaking gave minutes to Highsmith.KuruptedCav wrote:It was annoyingto watch the Heat intentionally go small against the Knicks, making Robinson chase guards.

JB ran out 2 bigs who can't shoot for 40 minutes every single night and paired them with a wing who can't shoot for 4 of the 5 games.
This roster is constructed absolutely awful and Koby has a shot to fix it this summer but it won't be easy.

I still think the success of our team is predicated on our defense. Not saying this cannot change, but we would need a ton of roster overhaul to make the offense elite and defense top 10 without Allen.

Sabonis finished with a team high 22pts on 16 shots, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 blocks. The guys around him couldn't bury shots in a game 7.
The Warriors didn't shoot much better outside of Steph ...
All the floor spacing in the world doesn't matter if those guys can't make their shots, can't even pull Looney out of the paint.

Re: Around the NBA
I assume we do not have an inkling of interest in this guy?
I'm going to be nice and give some positives:
- great defender
- at one point, had the ability to shoot the three
- possibly an okay lockerroom guy? (I know jbk has been wanting an enforcer)
- is a SF
negatives:
- one of the worst TS% players in the league
- will get techs constantly
- occasionally makes incredibly bone headed plays

Doesn't seem like a Koby player, I mean if even the Grizz are tired of his antics, that's a really bad sign.
If he was a lights out shooter, it would be easier to ignore all that; but might as well keep feeding minutes to Okoro - at least he'll do what's asked of him 120%.
Maybe a deeper dive in to his wide open shooting?

Deliberately hit Mitchell in the nuts and Mitchell went all in the guy. Sounds like he's pretty toxic in the locker-room.
Honestly the Cavs can't spend their exception money on non-shooters. We're at the point where they've passed on prioritizing spacing so often, they can't do it again.

Surprisingly, in his last two seasons he’s shot 38.9% on wide open shots (these are his two worst 3P% seasons // would easily be one of our best wide open shooters). His problem is that he loves contested and self-generated 3’s.
Maybe someone can get him to stop taking as many?

Sticking him into the Okoro role would limit how much he can actually take contested shots, the question is whether he'd rather try to be Cedi Osman and get the ball on offense. Even then, it isn't as if Brooks has been as bad as he was in the playoffs every year of his career or every playoffs.

I'd like to add this since I said I'd like him better if he did less lol.

Re: Around the NBA
We need to find our Desmond Bane, not our Dillon Brooks. I mean ... wth was this trade?
November 18, 2020: Drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 1st round (30th pick) of the 2020 NBA Draft.
November 20, 2020: As part of a 3-team trade, traded by the Boston Celtics to the Memphis Grizzlies; the Boston Celtics traded Enes Kanter to the Portland Trail Blazers; the Memphis Grizzlies traded a 2023 2nd round draft pick and a 2025 2nd round draft pick to the Boston Celtics; the Memphis Grizzlies traded cash to the Portland Trail Blazers; and the Portland Trail Blazers traded Mario Hezonja to the Memphis Grizzlies. 2023 2nd-rd pick is more favorable of HOU and less favorable of MEM and DAL picks 2025 2nd-rd pick is MEM own

Listen I'm not saying Brooks is the guy we absolutely must have but I think if the cavs are gonna dig themselves out of this hole where they have absolutely no wing depth or dynamic players. you're gonna have to take a chance on somebody like this. That's what I think you're gonna have to do something other than bring in choir boys every year.

Yeah, that's a guy that's not going to take the Okoro role. OTOH I'm not sure anyone wants him to play the role he wants to play.

I was all on board with trying to get him with the MLE until he said he didn't wanna play the role he's good at.
I'd probably still have a conversation with him. I personally don't like him but he could fit well if he would accept his role. Then go get Lyles or Gabriel for the BAE.

If the Cavs sign non-shooters with our exception money, I'm going to take leave of my senses.

Nothing about this Knicks/Heat series should reassure Altman. Neither Butler nor Herro are playing and the Knicks are lucky to get the W at home.

I wouldn't call Brooks a non-shooter, per se.jbk1234 wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:I was all on board with trying to get him with the MLE until he said he didn't wanna play the role he's good at.

I personally don't just want the Duncan Robinson archetype starting at SF. Doesn't matter because JB would have that archetype glued to the bench anyway.
Strus or Divencenzo are my 1a/1b wings for the MLE, they're just really short.
Jalen McDaniels is a close 2nd for me to those guys, given his frame.
He's getting old and he's short too, plus probably wants to get paid but I'd at least call Crowder's agent.
Not sure how realistic any of them are.
It would be a steal, imo if they could convince Lonnie Walker to take the BAE.
