This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

I'll be honest...He is trying his butt off to make Cleveland a winner...Thats what you can ask for from your team's owner. Dont worry Cavs fans...You will be a great franchise as long as this guy is running it.

We may not be the biggest market, we may not have the best city, and we may not have the best team.....but I am convinced we have one of best owners in the league. Gilbert did everything he possibly could to keep the hometown kid in town, and it just didn't work. For that, I thank him. And I will continue to support him in all of his attempts to turn around this city - from the Cavs, to the casino, to whatever else he has in mind. His dedication to this team and this city, especially in the economic conditions our city is experiencing, has truly been remarkable.

His fire in this letter is awesome...reminds me of Cuban, lol.

ETA: by the way, our insider on another forum thinks Gilbert plans to take down LeBron and the veil that has been protecting him. It's speculation at this point, but the insider is legitimate so I guess we will see.

when you have that much money, you can speak your mind. providing you're not gunning for someone of true wealth and position, and clearly James isn't of wealth and position, then you'll be fine.
