Cavs chasing Childress

Post#1 » by HtownPA » Sat Jul 10, 2010 10:22 pm

Cavs are chasing Childress. I am not very excited about this move, if it's true. He only looks good in Europe, because the rest of the league is so slow.

# Childress has until July 15 to opt out of his contract with Olympiakos. Several other teams believed to be interested. about 1 hour ago via web

# Sources say the #Cavs are considering make an offer to Atlanta Hawks restricted free agent forward Josh Childress. about 1 hour ago via web

I don't Childress at all as a basketball player. He can't shoot and is not a very good player.

What are they thinking?

He can play some D and rebounds pretty well for a SG/SF.....i think this would be a great pick up, without a star the only way the Cavs are going to win is with rebounding and D.

He's okay if he's not overpaid. And if anything, he didn't look good in Europe from what I've heard.

Depends on what you want from him.
We're looking for guys that fit Scott's system. If Childress can do that why not? No signing is a bad signing until you know how much it was for so we just have to wait and see.

Childress is such a poor shooter, you cannot win with a major flaw like that.

Why do you think he left Atlanta to go to Europe? He was no loss to Atlanta.
i've seen him play.

He is NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You people wouldn't know talent if it smacked you in the face.

Josh Childress and Mike Bibby for Mo Williams

ATL needs all the help they can get to stop Lebron from getting a ring.

Cavs get a shorter contract in Bibby and get rid of Mo's big contract.

Childress is a good role player. he is a good, but not great defender, Hawks used him alot to guard PGs and back in the day, he would shut down Jamer Nelson. Childress can't create his own shot, but he is great at moving without the basketball, Chil is smart and will always exploit a defense if they are ever sleeping, Chil knows spacing and ran alot of back door cuts for easy dunks, and that is why he has a .520 FG% for a SG. he looks skinny and frail but Chil is really really tough and gets alot of rebounds, especially offensive rebound at the end of games when the team really needs them. he is a legit NBA starter, if given the minutes, he will probably get you 15ppg and 7rpg while shooting .500 . he is a good player to have, unless you are looking to tank

Because he got mad that the Hawks wanted to sign Smith before they started to negotiate with him. He also wanted a guaranteed starting spot, which he wouldn't have gotten from the Hawks. Then there is also the money issue.

This is something the cavs need to help the Cavs regroup. Childress was already a good player, maybe those few seasons overseas really helped his game.

I wouldnt mind this type of deal. A guy not coming back anyway for two borderline starters. It would give us some depth on the wings, and allow us to consider trades for AP and Delonte without worrying about replacing them.

Wow that would be a horrendous trade. Marvin Williams is simply a bad player, always has been since he's been in the league. If that trade goes down, trading our best player and perhaps our best asset for that bum then Grant is a terrible GM and we will have truly entered a dark age of Cavs basketball.

But it would all be worth it if we could get Jordan Crawford. :)

Completely unlikely I know.

I cant say I'm disappointed he's going to Phoenix. Looks like the Suns are getting busy retooling though.

He ended up with a large contract than I'd have been comfortable with and not only that but they had to sign and trade for him.
