Should the Cavs try to get the 8th or 7th seed in the playoffs or start trading for cap space and draft picks to get: Jared Sullinger..... Chris Wright..... William Buford?

I hope this doesn't come off as douchy... but i don"t think the Cavs even have the players to make the Playoffs without LBJ. but i could be wrong i'm not an expert.

Eh, I don't disagree with you.

Playoffs:
Magic
Celtics
cHeat
Bulls
Hawks

Those are my locks.

Then you have:
Bobcats
Bucks
Knicks
Pacers (outside chance)

Those are all teams on the verge of the playoffs or just getting in.

I would put the Cavs at about that level. The Bobcats team isn't all that talented (they have good players, but no one great), but their team philosophy does them well. If the Cavs can do a similar approach then they can probably sneak into the playoffs.

That said, is sneaking into the playoffs worth it? In my opinion, no.

You have to suck, and you have to suck badly. Harrison Barnes, Rakeem Christmas, Andre Drummond.... we're coming for you. Once we get them, then we build the team.

Cavs in my onipion are still the 5th or 6th best team in the east. Definitely better than Hawks. Probably could easily end up being 4th seed cause I expect Celtics to slack in regular season.

Still isn't clear where we fit into the East, but I do know that you have to put the Bucks in as a lock too.

Our free agent options are dwindling. I mean, Qyntel Woods?....really?
Childress is gone, it looks like Diaw will be dealt elsewhere - those were too very solid fits in Scott's offense. Marvin Williams is less likely to be dealt now that Childress was and Al Jefferson doesn't fit the offense at all. It isn't looking good for us to be able to squeeze into the playoffs. We have to add someone of value to pull that off.

I think the cavs should defiantely tank it. We need a couple of superstars to realistically compete for a title and the only way this is coming here to cleveland is through the draft. The worse thing we can do is be a 7th or 8th seed and be stuck in medeiocrity for the next 10 years.

We are totally underestimating LeBron's value to this team.

We were 1-14 when LeBron didn't play any minute these past 3 seasons.

Breakdown.

09-10:1-5
08-09:0-1
07-08:0-7

These don't seem like playoff numbers to me.

We're gonna try to make the playoffs, but eventually we're just gonna throw a season away.

Doubt it, not with the reloaded east. You have Boston, Orlando, Bulls, Heat, possibly the Knicks, and Toronto depending on the moves they make. Lebron was a huge reason for the team's success, hard to even see them in the playoff picture at the moment. I would personally tank for the sake of rebuilding the team.

Cavs now have the worst team in the nba or the worst type and i know what its like medioricy teams. Anyway the Cavs may be locked into mediocrity for a year but it isn't permenant. The free agent landscape isn't getting better for them in the next year or two. We're going to be a lottery team and as Jamison's contract falls off we won't be able to replave him. We'll either get a long term piece to the puzzle for his contract or slip further into the lottery. This isn't a bad thing.

The real key may be those 1st rounders from the Heat. If the rumor about us receiving the Timberwolves 2012 pick (held by the Heat) then the timing of all this may work out perfectly.

The CBA is going to change after next season to deal with player collusion with a much harder cap that will greatly hamper three super-stars on a team. The CAVs can't give away Mo or Jamison and they need to be flexible to be ready to compete in a new CBA economic environment. Yes, the super free agent class big three has probably served to unite enough owners for a player lockout after next season combined with other issues the owners have with the Current CBA. IMO, the CAVs won't immediately tank--- because that will leave a very empty 'Q' which is not what Gilbert will do. If the right deal comes along for the CAVs, I would be all for moving Mo and Jamison with an eye to the future.

IMO you guys should tank it and rebuild from the ground up. You really have no one to build around and need a new franchise player. Just my opinion.

You could make the playoffs maybe and suffer through mediocrity but I for one like to aim for the stars not the top of a hill.
