Shaq Has Offer To Stay in Cleveland

Hey guys,
Stephen A Smith, who is a very close friend of Shaq's, says that Cleveland has made Shaq an offer to stay in Cleveland, but it's not the kind of money Shaq is looking for.
Should the team even try to be keeping him as they are seemingly doing, or should they just part ways given that he's very old and sucked for most of the season and the fact that the Cavs are no longer contenders?
What do you guys think?

I think even if the team tries to keep him, he will leave because Shaq wants to be on a contender. Say your goodbyes. Again.

If he stays, we'll probably just use him as trade bait for a team with injuries in the front court.

Cavs & Hawks close to deal with Shaq & Williams (Marvin).
See trade thread for latest.

Hawks no longer interested in Shaq according to FanHouse.
Looks like he might have no choice but to return to Cleveland.

Don't know if Shaq has any fit with the team anymore.. The Cavs are most likely to rebuild within the next couple of years. At this point of his career, he should probably go ring chasing.

He doesn't need to ring chase, he's already got them.
Its an interesting position because he'll be able to play a larger role on a bad team than he would a contender. Would he rather start and play 25 minutes and lose, or come off the bench playing 12 minutes and win?
Suprisingly people don't seem to be lining up for his services. I say suprisingly only because he appears to be the anti-Howard, so every EC contender should have some interest.

Joking right?
Shaq would come off the bench if it means playing on a team that will win him another ring, of course.
The pressure would be off.
Having to start every night on a team that looks to Shaq as their 2nd or 3rd scoring option creates pressure, which leads to tension within the team if he doesn't deliver, and it forces Shaq to work harder and exert a greater physical toll with ZERO reward.
If you think Shaq is down for that, be my guest. You obviously don't know Shaq by now. If he stays, its because he had no choice. See if he still looks like the fun loving guy that rubbed shoulders with LeBron just a season ago.

Would Cleveland do a S&T of Shaq to Boston along w/ a 2nd rd. pick for Sheed's retiring contract and a protected 1st rd. pick?

I wouldn't add in a pick at all if I'm the Cavs. If you want him you need us to facilitate.
